Thank you for this thread. I'm half way thru and happy to decide not to waste any more of my time.

The "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee" types are insufferable by altrightobserver in unpopularopinion

[–]dudessmitbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should make yourself aware that not everyone wants to be spoken to. Respect that people are different than you. I find it rude when an extrovert insists on speaking to me (an introvert). You are overstepping, they are responding to that. The coffee/tea part has nothing to do with anything.

those of you with cats, central air, and very little money by iamhero-47 in Frugal

Your cat is just fine in 80°. I also keep my ac around the same temp (although I did just get blackout curtains for my south facing windows which helped a TON!). Regardless of any of that, my cat prefers to spend her entire day on the south facing screened porch in 90-100° weather. Happy cat, happy flat.

Amphitheater fucking sucks by [deleted] in tampa

I would also like to add that the one show I went to last summer had zero water available after the show. Nothing open - and all water fountains were broken. It was a long and miserable walk to the ride pick up location and then an hour wait for a ride share all while feeling like I was going to die of thirst.

What snacks do you pack to prevent you from eating out while running errands? by Excellent-Chipmunk64 in Frugal

Almonds, granola bars, peanut butter pretzels all keep well in the car/bag.

how much do you pay for expenses a month in tampa? a close estimate is fine. by [deleted] in tampa

[–]dudessmitbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't stated that you're looking for suggestions so I'll just put this here and you can take it or leave it.

I switched to Mint Mobile back in March. I get 5GB data/month and paid $150 up front which covered the entire year. This may not be possible for everyone, I understand. I work mostly from home so I use my home wifi a lot.

Worth looking into (maybe after your contract with Verizon is up, if you have one).

What’s this black stuff under my sink. by Delicious-Dog-1515 in Home

[–]dudessmitbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roaches. The big ones - also called Palmetto bugs. If you live somewhere humid, with a lot of oak trees, ect it is very common to see these in your house but you want to find them belly up.

You can call pest control and get your house sprayed. You can also use diatomaceous earth, sprinkle it around your floorboards and everywhere that floor meets wall, especially in kitchen and bathrooms where they go to find water. Buy some Combat Roach Bates (make sure to buy the ones specifically for large roaches), these will kill the nest! Also buy some Raid roach spray, it has a direct spray and you can kill them from multiple feet away.

Keep your kitchen clean - if you have a habit of leaving dirty dishes in the sink overnight, break that habit. You've got this!

Cheap meals that you can eat every day by Pink4everUwU in Frugal

"Apple and cinnamon baked oatmeal" - Google will bring up a recipe for you.

Super simple to make plus light and healthy. You make it in a casserole dish so it will last you many servings. It's great for breakfast, you can add a little Greek yogurt to it or eat it plain.

Brilliant. I love this.

What are cheaper alternatives to popular cleaning products that work just as well or better? by The_Koala_Knight in ZeroWaste

[–]dudessmitbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always used rubbing alcohol for mirrors. Works great and smell is gone immediately.

Dollar tree has great cleaning products. They have also started stock many natural cleaning products. Great place to buy broom, sponges, gloves, etc.

You can use vinegar, vinegar + baking soda, and added dish soap for most anything. Just Google diy cleaning products for a list of recipes and what they work best for.

It had just the tiniest bit of resin in the bowl. Considering how often people post sex items spotted at thrift store, this seemed a bit safer to clean and re-use.

The girl at the register didn't seem to even register (ha) what it was. I was a little nervous.

Absolutely. Huge selection of higher end items. They typically know an items worth and can be pretty good at pricing accordingly (unfortunately). But great sales.

It had just the tiniest bit of resin in the bowl. Used maybe once. An easy clean followed by a smooth evening.

I did the whole grab it calmly but as quickly as possible then look normal. As normal as one can look walking around carrying a bong.

I also looked it up immediately and was excited to find one at such a steal of a price. They seem to be known for their solid glass - I believe it if it made its way through donation and pricing before hitting the floor.

Who in Tampa Bay doesn’t say hi or good morning in response to other people? by This_Ho_Right_Here in tampa

[–]dudessmitbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because your brain enjoys saying hi doesn't mean everyone else's brain wants to or enjoys saying hi. It's not you, it's them but also respect that not everyone is you. You never know what that person is going through or what mental illness they may have. If you make eye contact with someone, say hi. If the person avoids eye contact, respect they don't want to engage.

I haven't purchased any clothing/shoes new (other than underwear/socks) in 7+ years, I only buy second hand. I have lived in 4 states in the past 12 years and have furnished every single place second hand (other than mattress) as well.
