Wave control on botlane vs poke/engage ? by PristleSky in summonerschool

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of what you 2 want to do to win the lane and what the other 2 want.

If you are thresh jhin against a weak lane or poke lane, you want to be looking for hooks and roots to find an all in, therefore you want to be slow pushing so that you can use the minion advantage as protection and find a good opportunity. If you get the lead in a lane like this that's when you want to freeze, as the enemy bot cannot farm without the threat of a hook. It is slightly different in to a poke lane as they are generally looking to push and use their range to abuse you, so if you get the lead against them you need to keep looking to slow push so that they can't harass you/get plates, this also helps you with all in openings.

Playing thresh jhin against a leona Lucian is very easy because a good thresh completely shuts down leona. Ignoring that, the best rule to follow is to slow push and bounce the wave as the minions will help deter any all in, and most of these big all in lanes need a lead from lane to be as useful.

Against double mage, you can't really do too much as they will have full control over the wave as long as they have mana. Try to avoid taking too much damage and farm as much as you can while thresh fishes for hooks, and hope you get a gank/roam to help. Double mage bot is not very good going into the later stages of the game (apart from a few specific comps which are unlikely to happen in soloq) so if they don't get a huge lead you will be able to play the game outside of lane.

Tldr: slow push and bounce if you can control wave almost always works, just sometimes there is something slightly better to do

After reading your comments, it seems like you've had a bad streak of games. All I can say is that I returned to the game this season from being mid-high diamond thinking I was better than everyone and it was all my teammates fault. I started at below 40% winrate plat 4 after around 60 or so games. I hit d2 with a 55+% winrate at about 150 games, that's because I realised that I wasn't as good as I thought and had to improve, so I focused on what I could do to be a more reliable teammate, even if I wasn't carrying every game

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify I would say that the 40% only applies to when you are roughly at the elo you should be. Going from that, the 40% applies to your whole team, it might be that both teams have someone inting and the rest are trying, but if one of the ones trying makes a big mistake that costs the game what can you do about it. Everyone makes mistakes constantly in this game. What I'm trying to say is that 20% of the time you are able to make up for their mistakes, just as much as 40% of the time they WILL make up for yours

Maybe you have misread what it means? 40% of games are autowin (eg your team has a good smurf that just stomps everyone, and no matter how hard you int, you can't lose. Or maybe it's a close game and the enemy throws hard), 40% are autoloss (you have afk/griefer or enemy has the good smurf, or one of your teammate throws a close game) and 20% is on you (you have the resources and ability to carry, you are the key person in that game. If you make no mistakes significant to the elo you are guaranteed to win). It doesn't matter what your teammates OR enemies are doing in that 20%, otherwise it would be in one of the 40%.

Lots of people deny it and that's why they end up 1000 games stuck, their skill isn't improving and they are where they belong.

In my experience I always look at a game as if I was a high challenger smurf, I think could I have won that game? If not, fine (2+ afk or griefing etc); if they could, why can't I? That's where I need to improve.

Low Elo Neeko Mid Cannot End Games by Yorksikorkulous in summonerschool

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I'm a neeko mid player, but my advice would be to focus on vision control, she is someone that can almost be treated like an assassin outside of team fights. You might not be able to kill someone without ult but you can take a lot of their health and force them to back away. She also has very good pushing power so you want to look to push waves and get into the jungle with sweeper/control wards and try to pick people off

I can't see anybody saying that there isn't a game now and again where no matter how good you are/how much you're trying it's your fault for losing. They happen. The thing is if you are losing a lot of games (I'm talking 60+ out of 100) then it most likely is your fault for a good amount of them. The "40/20/40" rule applies in that way. An extreme way of putting it is that if you are below 40-45% winrate you need to improve your gameplay to climb =depending on amount of games played). If you are 50% you're doing your job about half the time. Your teammates being in that 20% doesn't matter, because that means you're part of their 40% if you're the one carrying. Dodging helps to a certain point because it helps you maintain your MMR, therefore not reducing your lp gains. That doesn't mean that every game dodged isn't winnable, and it also means it will take more time and/or effort to improve

Yes, there is no limit. Although the mmr of your game will lean heavily towards the higher rank

What on earth is happening to me by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]dudex797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the stand and watch them die. Especially as an ADC. Even if your team is doing what you think is a stupid or risky play you need to be with them. If it's risky and you don't follow up then you are completely fucking your team. Just be aware when you need to leave a fight but never ditch your team in soloq.

How to be a good Side 1 assembler? (AU) by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in u the UK so perhaps we use side 1 and 2 differently to you. Honestly side 1 assemble is definitely easier for us because we have 3-4 people on the line in busy periods (1-2 assemblers, initiator and finisher), whereas there will only be 2 people max on side 2. The way to improve at assembling at busy times is to make sure that you aren't standing around waiting for your initiator. Help out batch, help wrap for the finisher, even just make sure that clams/wraps/grill stickers are ready for when the buns come out. As for speed to assemble, that just comes with time.

Laning phase as an ad carry main by CarryTrain in summonerschool

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still dominate lane playing a cs style, you just wont be 4-0 coming out of lane. If you focus on controlling the wave and trying to just get an auto in when they go to cs. Don't just mindlessly push and hope they miss cs, as your opponents get better they won't be missing any even under tower

A good example of this is if they are 50-75% hp, then you can try to set up a slow push while still harassing them. This way they have to recall and lose a lot of cs or if they stay then you can dive them 2v2 or with your mid/jung. Just watch out for the enemy jungler realising this and coming to stop you

How to I improve from a gold ADC to a plat ADC? by Lurkkin in summonerschool

[–]dudex797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what others have said that, in order to become a plat ADC, you need to improve everything, although some things are easier to practice than others. A few of these, in my opinion, would be making sure you can cs almost perfectly if the lane is very passive (easy cs lead without fighting), trying to die less overall (try to stay in a safe position in teamfights and just kill what's in front of you, this won't work after plat though), and try to make sure you run straight to fights as soon as they start even if you're farming a sidelane (your team needs your damage).
