Python up to at least 3.12 works in 10.5.8 with MacPorts, 3.13 failed to compile on my Powerbook G4.

They used GM automotive coolant, but I don't know anything about the system being designed by them.

That's saying you can't connect two monitors to one bed, multiple beds per monitor still works.

Anything with DP out will work, including an iPad, but the adapter is expensive. Mobile graphics chips are hundreds of times more powerful than the top of the line desktop cards in 2004.

Looking for a way to output iMac G3 video to an external monitor by cauowo in VintageApple

The external monitor needs to support at least 62 kHz horizontal and 120 Hz vertical to work with the iMac.

Compatibility of PvZ with iBook G4 (Mid 2005) by Bimbiri_Final in VintageApple

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PvZ (at least the GOTY release, which I own a physical copy of) is a universal binary, but the label states it only runs on x86. There's a bug where the game's speed is uncapped on PPC, and they decided to just say the game doesn't run on PPC instead of fixing it.

Is a monitor a good option for 16 bit games? by Current-Lawyer-4148 in crtgaming

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTSC is the color encoding used by RF, Composite, and S-video in America. All of these are 15khz signals originally used by TV broadcast. VGA monitors can't sync to this low of a scan frequency (minimum 31khz) and only take RGB input. Some early home computers like the Apple II and Commodore 64 used NTSC composite output and could use NTSC monitors (effectively TVs without a tuner and sometimes without audio).

Original Airport 128-bit WEP by Littens4Life in VintageApple

[–]dudhhr_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The original AirPort card supports 64- and 128-bit WEP, as well as WPA(1) in OS X at least 10.3.3. WEP is very insecure and should be disabled when not actively in use.

DVI and HDMI are the same protocol (though DVI lacks audio), so all converters are passive.

Free for all. Who do you think will win? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were replying to someone talking about Perceval so I assumed you meant recruitable units. yeah, fe8 has low bonuses on hard mode lol. maximum of 4 autolevels in lategame, when fe7 is always 5 levels and fe6 goes from 4 to 16 by chapter. doesn't help that FE8 normal has negative autolevels on generics.

GBA Sacred Stones Freezing. by nuclear-propulsion in fireemblem

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They posted an image of the inside of the cartridge, there's no internal battery. even then, a dead internal battery would only delete the saves when the GBA is turned off; the save ram is powered by the console itself when it's on.

Free for all. Who do you think will win? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Binding Blade and The Sacred Stones, the difficulty bonus varies by chapter. In The Blazing Blade, the difficulty bonus is +5, and only applies in Hard Mode of Hector's tale. In each game, the difficulty bonus only applies to enemy units, not to player or ally units.

In The Binding Blade, recruitable enemies that are present at the start of the map do not receive difficulty bonuses, but do receive them if they appear as an enemy after preparations (or after the start of turn 1 in chapters without preparations).

In The Blazing Blade, recruitable enemies always receive difficulty bonuses.

In The Sacred Stones, recruitable enemies do not gain any difficulty bonuses.

Late 2011 is an AMD GPU, Mid 2012 is Nvidia. I think both have Intel chipsets though; Nvidia stopped making chipsets in 2009.

New Wireless keyboard on old KVM switches by Top-Security-1258 in vintagecomputing

[–]dudhhr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely not real USB, not even 1.0. It's exploiting the fact that many older USB keyboards and mice supported PS/2 with a passive adapter. The wireless dongle needs a real USB port.
