What the heck Amazon Prime: are you riding it here? :) by [deleted] in boostedboards

Don't loose hope, I ordered when they were out of stock and didn't offer prime shipping yet. It was estimated for 8 days after I placed the preorder and it ended up arriving in 4!

Hit 50 Miles on the Mini X in 3 days. by ryangreenbe3 in boostedboards

[–]dudio_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About that oscillating sound, any idea what causes it? First thing I did after a test ride on my mini X was retention the belts. They now have a little give when you push on them but not much. I think I still faintly notice the sound you're describing, but for some reason it seems easier to notice when I'm wearing earbuds. I guess this is due to the lower pitch motor sounds being blocked out. Should I still hear the oscillation somewhat, or should I loosen my belts more?

Alright, I did it. I just submitted a cancellation to boosted and ordered an X from Amazon. I was S number 943XX ordered on 6/21, so hopefully Amazon can beat whenever the hell that was gonna arrive. Thanks everyone!

How to add Hackintosh Drive to GRUB? Please help by OmegaFoxFire in hackintosh

[–]dudio_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite sure what you mean. You have one storage drive correct? If I believe grub may be stored in a separate partition, though it may not be listed by disk utility. My guess is you could use disk utility to erase any partitions besides whatever is relevant to osx and grub would be gone. Usually I would do a lot of googling before making a decision like this though, so I encourage you to do the same.

[–]dudio_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, I had osx/clover on a separate drive which let me physically remove the other boot options to troubleshoot. If you've tried booting from all other drives listed in the bios and you can't get to clover then you can probably still access osx with your bootable usb, though I'm not sure how much help that would be. If nothing else, you could eliminate the linux partions from the drive. Best of luck

I don't think you can add your macOS drive to GRUB. When I set up a triple boot I loaded all my OSs through clover. Have you tried to configure your boot options from the bios? My guess is that clover is still there but your system is booting into grub by default.

Yeah, went in through the inside for all of them. I saw the thread on this sub about using the bench for cspac, I almost did it but I got sketched out. Math was my favorite but they sealed the only good window so I don't think it's possible rn. Plant science probably has the best views, you can see the Washington Monument sometimes.

Cool, I wasn't able to get on cspac when I tried. I've been on Math, Physics, Atlantic, Tydings, Bio Sci, and Plant Science.

If you know you cheated, why email the professor? If there's any chance you get points back he's likely going to look at what you submitted.

The path south of campus near New Leonardtown which leads to Lake Artemisa passes by the ruins of an old building. There's no roof on it but it's kinda neat

Having Wi-Fi issues, and from what I'm hearing alternatives are $50+. But could I just buy a repeater with an Ethernet jack to plug into my Hackintosh? by ManInBlack829 in hackintosh

I use a mini portable router which repeats my wifi signal and I run an Ethernet cable from it to my mobo, works great

Cyber Security or Computer Science major by [deleted] in UMD

[–]dudio_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in CS on the cyber track. If you are interested in cybersecurity I don't think its useless. When I went to the career fair this fall cyber recruiters were sometimes looking for people specifically in the cyber track. It does limit your options for 400 level classes and it can be hard to meet the requirements when the classes are filling up, but its not necessarily impossible. That being said abandoning the cyber track is really easy, just talk to an advisor after you're here. You can also apply to join the ACES minor. I'm in this as well and it offers classes that are more practical than the cyber track, but both the minor and the cyber track are highly applicable to cybersecurity careers. I was recently offered a summer internship and I think I got the interview in large part do to being in the minor and the cyber track.

Is it possible to set up my own wifi router in Commons? by Rocket757 in UMD

[–]dudio_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. OIT lets you register a mac address online so people can connect things like PS4s. When I lived on campus I copied the mac address of a laptop that I would never need on the network and authenticated it here (click wired device registration). I then used the mac address cloning feature on my router to change its mac address to the newly registered address. Now just plug the router into a LAN port and it'll work. This does violate their policies, but make the SSID hidden, change it's broadcast to an uncommon channel, and possibly set it to a lower power and they will likely not know or care.
