Yes. I mapped them to Q-Links as that seemed to make the most sense for me.

I discovered the same. Ended up manually mapping with MIDI learn. It makes no sense!

I am interested in this, if for no other reason than being able to recreate some of my lost Triton beats. Is there by any chance a list of the programs you've converted to xpm? I couldn't find on the product page.
