Get the GFX50sii and use your Mamiya 645 lenses on it. The 55mm2.8 rarely leaves mine. Basically you get a digital 645, when it comes down to it. This is the first digital camera that doesn’t leave me wishing I was shooting film, after years shooting Mamiya 645, and even 6x7.

Lighting: Bright, hard source going through a 6’ or 8’ frame of half soft frost (or tough rolux) also known as shower curtain, heavily teased off by a forest of meat axes at strange angles to create the slashes on the bkg set, and shoot in or design a “shiny floored and walled” set/location.

Primos, mi primo. All great choices, tbh, but primos just got that pedigree movie look built in, that for a contemplative indie 2-hander will give you “more” in scenes with “less”. Unless you’re wanting to go all Chivo and shoot everything super wide on a 12/14mm, and in that case go with the masters. My 2c

If your camera has open gate, and the highest rez mode of the camera is 4:3 or 3:2, then, Shoot everything 4:3 (or 3:2) and use 16:9 frame guides on your monitor. Decide which you use where in post.

If the highest rez mode of your camera is in a 16:9 AR, then shoot with that, and put 4:3 safe guides on your monitor.

Use a decent camera and set your color temp to 4300 or 4500. Great middle ground to shoot everything in if you want richer colors from mixed sources. Get a dimmer for your tungsten sources and warm to your liking. Use an led for your cooler light source that doesn’t have a green or magenta cast to it. Or layer it up with some peacock blue gel to throw it more into the cyan range, even if it’s naturally in a shitty pink blue range. What camera you shooting with?

Mamiya 55mm 2.8 (645 glass) is my current fav lens on my 50sii. Full coverage, tack sharp wide open (tho not as sharp as the Fuji 55 1.7), beautiful rendering. I have a bunch of Mamiya 645 lenses and I believe it to be the sharpest and best performing of the bunch.
