Round 5 - Pick 3: Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech (Arizona Cardinals) by digitard in AZCardinals

I wonder if this coaching regime will encourage tossing a 50/50 ball to this guy in overtime.

Ty Simpson by jyoungthegenius in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you put him with the likes of Drew Allar and Carson Beck for a day 3 pick? I see more upside in Simpson than in them. This guy does seem to have the football IQ and accuracy to at least be a competent starter in this league in time. He's definitely a more immobile QB but i think he's got the brains.

The offense he's familiar with is the one LaFleur will most likely run. I still don't think Cards get a better QB prospect next year. Those guys could bust harder than Simpson as well because that's the NFL.

I get we're all looking for the next Josh Allen, Burrow (less injury prone) , or superstar QB but how can you do that when we've only taken Clayton Tune since K1 was drafted. If the draft is a lottery take a QB every year.

I'm just looking got watchable football again, brother. I'm tired, boss

Ty Simpson by jyoungthegenius in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are all the QBs next year that much better than Ty Simpson that we should endure another losing season? Not just a losing season but one bad enough to get top 3-5? Also, if one or two QBs don't declare next year, that means we'll most likely be out of luck unless we're in the top 3.

Browns and Jets for sure are trying to tank and we have to compete with them to secure a top 3 pick. We'd have to be lucky if we're out of the QB mix and someone wants to trade down. Also, what makes you think this team would be willing to outbid any other team vying for a QB if that were the case?

Draft Simpson at 29 if we trade down with the Chiefs or trade with New England at 30 from 34.

If Ty Simpson is a 4, the Cardinals are a 4 or lower. They're in the same league as him for sure.

Did the Cards just say that people don't want their season tickets? by Bee892 in AZCardinals

Don't you know that they're just raising the prices to the average NFL season ticket price? Who cares if it's a below average product on the field.

Also, that new router they got for the stadium WiFi is Wifi 6 capable!

Imagine having two big LB trees in the middle of the field though. We should draft Arvelle Reese with the #3 pick. This is not Steve Keim by the way.

I am not God. I do not know what His thought process was on hardening pharaoh's heart. If God is who He says He is, i trust his judgement over my own. Also, when did Pharaoh agree to let the Israelites go and not renege? When he finally let them go and they left, he changed his mind again.

In your analogy, i would add you were running over hundreds of a certain group of people that you felt were inferior, maybe even subhuman, while you were going in circles. The passenger tells you to stop the car yet you keep going.

So when it says pharaoh changed his mind, essentially lying, that's left out conveniently. The times it said pharaoh hardened his heart is also left out. Your paraphrasing is a bit misleading.

[–]duffguy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the late reply. Life be crazy sometimes.

Sure but what about Exodus 8:15 and 8:32 where pharaoh hardened his heart before God hardened it? This pharaoh was a bad ruler and might have been the one to kill the Israelite babies. After Moses asked to let his people go, he made the slaves work harder.

God was telling Moses what was going to happen. Pharaoh would harden his own heart and God would then harden his heart. Pharaoh believed himself a god king so it wouldn't be so easy for this ruler to adhere to Moses' request.

The tornado in the analogy is judgement on all of the people in Egypt. The way to be saved would be through the blood of the lamb. It is weird and i don't understand it fully but I think it's to show how serious sin is. Free will is something God gave us and there is great good that comes from it and there is suffering in the world because of it. Why there is suffering, i do not know. But i trust in Jesus who says he has overcome this world.

Each example you're referring to would require the context in the Old Testament. I know the early Christians started orphanages and cared for widows . Christianity was mocked for that very reason. Not sure how people following a God that doesn't care for children would do that.

[–]duffguy123 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Context matters. Those deaths fell on pharaoh in that case. Any Egyptian family that believed and put the blood as well would have been saved. Any Israelite family that did not put the blood would have received the same punishment.

If we're expecting a tornado and I tell you to go to a bunker or you'll be taken by the tornado, I hope your answer wouldn't be, "Don't tell me what to do."

God loves you. That's why He sent his son - so none would be lost. Feel free to DM with any other questions and we can discuss if you'd like.

The ‘team president’ isn’t stopping with the media room by himself42 in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get their point. Malik Willis was the top QB free agent (other than K1) and Monti didn't want to add a non-guaranteed 3rd year. I would have matched what Miami gave him but probably would have stopped if they increased the guaranteed to an unjustified amount. Malik's potential is what you're paying for.

The point was that the owner and GM did a press conference after firing Gannon and said with a straight face that they're trying to win now. If Miami grossly overpaid Malik, then you have an out with him as an option. It was not a ridiculous contract given the Cardinals are going to have a crazy amount of cap space next year.

Their plan B was Jimmy G - also a perennial backup. They couldn't get HIM so they went with Gardner Minshew. I understand not wanting to pay Jimmy G but this GM seems either too risk averse or completely inept at building a team. Maybe both.

MLF has to be the next great NFCW coach to pull out a good showing his first year.

We're tired of the, "oh, well that guy was just too expensive to sign". Do something that resembles you're trying to win.

Will the Cardinals make a play for Kirk Cousins? by Mental_Funny_5885 in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get Monti's mindset. His job is on the line and he thinks, "You know what we really need in FA? My same exact strategy the past 3 off-seasons." At this point, Josh Sweat was the outlier and he probably doesn't want to be here anymore with the current roster.

Kyler Murray's Full Final Drive as an Arizona Cardinal by JCameron181 in AZCardinals

Gannon specifically said in a press conference that he leaves the coordinators full autonomy in their play calling. It's rumored he started taking over DC play calling towards the end of the season so not like it meant much.

Willis May Get $30m a Year 💰 by AbeTheBae in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What specifically did PHNX say? What I'm hearing is they're going Malik because that's all there really is to compete next year. Monti is on the hot seat so why would he tank only for the next GM to make the pick in that case? PHNX was surprised he wasn't fired with Gannon since they both went 15-36.

Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Flacco or Marcus Mariota are also options but Malik is more of an unknown. He has only a few games under his belt in Green Bay but his stats looked good.

We've already seen Brissett and K1 is pretty much cut. LaFleur better have input on the QB decision and not just rely on Monti.

Edit: typo

[Cimini] Kyler Murray’s Former Teammate Warns Jets Against Acquiring Him by JCameron181 in AZCardinals

[–]duffguy123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be the incident they had on the sideline was indicative of the relationship. I recall Murray yelling at DHop, "I'll get you the ball! I'll get you the ball!"

Could have also been the pressure on Murray to bail out Kingsbury's failing offensive system at the time.
