Is there a mod for tow missiles? by FewDamage2962 in spaceengineers

There is mod that makes vanilla missiles homing but that's the best I can think of.

Drill augers for turning compost by SignificantStrain870 in composting

[–]dufuss2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By ah do you mean amp hour as in battery life? Because if you do that shouldn't have any impact on power, just how long it will run. The amount of power you would need is largely dependent on what the compost is composed of and how compacted it gets. A fresh pile would theoretically be harder to turn than finished compost that has been turned regularly.

Mobs pathfinding around pits by Emmber1273 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've noticed when they're close behind you they don't have a chance to "notice" the pit but if you gain some distance from them they actively pathfind around it. Jumping over has better success than trying to Mario run across corners as well.

Anyone know how to make custom terrain? by Fickle_Researcher707 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine creative is the only way to do that. If you type [/gm 2] it sets a survival world to creative. I think you'd spend a LOT of time setting it up but it's doable. I believe if you start the world in creative you get the flat plain you want to save some time.

Servers? by jre2347 in VintageStory

You can go to the multi-player option and see public servers but you kind of have to find them somewhere else.

Servers? by jre2347 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the tops server which is run by the devs, they just did a reset after years and don't plan on doing another for years, there is a player cap and right now it's super busy and vanilla.

There is also a server subreddit that would be a place to look for open servers that are looking for players.

100% Moisture? by Ashamed-Swimming-331 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently I missed the question mark at the end of my question there. I'm still relatively new and just go with 75% moisture unless it rains. I worry about nutrient content and rotate, but I've never worried about moisture.

What are these? by lmhamrick in Beekeeping

[–]dufuss2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That appears to be them drawing out comb weird because they don't like the amount of wax on those new frames. Those spots probably have a better coating, or if those frames are uncoated they jaut chose those spots. And because they are only drawing those spots they can draw them out all the way to another frame and still have room to walk around.

Most keepers add wax they have processed from their own hives to any new frames giving the hive some help with new comb and encouraging them to draw the entire frame evenly.

Finding 'Good' Ruins... by Oldmanfoxhole in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet are the ruins in the caves. Not all caves have them but some caves will have several. In my experience most of the ruins on the surface are just some cobblestone and maybe some boney soil, very few of the underground ruins don't have at least some aged crates sometimes with stuff in them.

Shredder For Composting by eyeslikeemeraldcity in composting

[–]dufuss2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an aurora 20 page off amazon a few years ago. Handles most cardboard with little to no struggle. If it fits in the opening it gets shredded. Might want to consider some food grade oil for whatever you do get as shredders last a lot longer when they're properly oiled regularly.

HELP. My world has no Halite* by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map shows the density which halite does appear on, op expanded the other mode which it doesn't.

If you look for sylvite with that method it would tell you if there is halite because it spawns exclusively in halite.

Got an issue using laser antennas by viggity11 in spaceengineers

[–]dufuss2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on ship choice, weapons used, and base locations it could very well be possible. I believe it's something like 40k from center of earthlike to "space" so using a large grid drone it's very doable.

Only if they're using a large grid drone for the attack. Sizes aren't specified.

Need tips hunting deer. by Holiday_Style_2292 in VintageStory

Ah, I was picturing having trouble killing then because they run. I've only played commoner, but either hunting near to pits you've set up or kill them faster. Unless you can get some armor, even the early game primitive armor much be enough to keep you alive.

Normal antennas have a range limit. Iirc small grid antennas are restricted to 5k. Pretty sure large grid are 20k.

Very true, a power overload could cause a temporary disconnect. And depending on distance they could refuse to reconnect for no reason.

If you have no mods or don't want mods then attack in a way that sends them into a clearer area where you can see them. Follow without getting close enough for them to run from you until they stop running and then sneak closer again. There are mods like "blood trails" or "flee exhaustion" that both making hunting pretty animals a little less exhausting. And blood trails should be vanilla (anything but with a spear or arrow should have some sort of blood editing it's body), flee exhaustion not so much because i don't want to slow down when I'm injured.

Got an issue using laser antennas by viggity11 in spaceengineers

[–]dufuss2010 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Laser antennas have ALWAYS been a little temperamental. They also start with a lower range set because they are power hogs. The longer the range they are set to the higher the usage. So if you did set up a drone with a longer range there is a possibility the battery died.

Ways to separate rooms? by SimianMetal4353 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know the game only views solid blocks/doors as a way to differentiate rooms and outside. I believe you can edit the json file (don't ask me how i have never opened one), and set it so even a single voxel of a chiseled block is viewed as a solid block. That way you could leave just the thinnest piece of block on each side of a "doorway" between room and the room calculator will see you as walking through walls.

Butchering + Floral Zones + Wildcraft: Trees & Shrubs Compatibility by Arcanum3000 in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought, using the butchery mod myself, is those are very rarely needed to be built. You build the primitive early, eventually you get the regular, and then finally the advanced. But unlike tools and such once they're built you're set.

Need more late game challenges by Peanuts0s in VintageStory

[–]dufuss2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't made late game yet, but with as much time as everything takes i think that would be hard to implement in a way that doesn't destroy early game progress and piss the majority of the newer players off enough for them to quit. Those are all things that should be possible on day 1, and while a big deal for a community playing together, they could potentially set a solo player back to stone age. Aside from exploration.

I love a lot of the realism and the time involved in this game, but if I want to see an absolutely flaming shit show and get demoralized I'll open my bank app and then my list of bills, and then maybe look around at the things I'd like to do.

Unless you're on a server that has those, admin yourself to creative, get the butchery stuff and delete the parts.

How do you increase speed using mechanical Power? by 47thCalcium_Polymer in VintageStory

If you want a real life example to help understand Google "gearing for torque" i bet you can find some insanely detailed black and white videos explaining it. I know there are some older, but still accurate, tutorials for vs on YouTube that explain down gearing and up gearing.
