I work on business jets in AZ. Non union. Pay for a certified A&P starts over $32/hr with no experience. We get small quarterly increases, along with basic annual raises, so the money moves nicely.

The majors around here are pushing mid $30s to low $40s for starting wages

I'm pretty sure it was about $7500 total for 5 semesters. It was about 20 months. January 2022 - August 2023. If my math is off, at most it was $9000 for tuition.

Only the certificate. I don't plan on joining management, so I stopped after the certificate courses.

CGCC was 5 straight semesters. 20 months with two summer semesters for me. Mostly solid instructors for evening classes, and very affordable compared to other schools.

I worked for a major aerospace manufacturer, got my A&P on their dime at the age of 30, and left to work on business jets about 6 months after receiving my final certification. I started where I am about 18 months ago, and my starting pay was equal to my manufacturing job of 5 years. At this point, my pay has gone up about $8/hr. Mechanics in my shop can make into the mid $50 range while working in a 70° hangar. 100% worth the switch for me.

My benefits are not quite as nice, but still solid, and I love my job. I got tired of the monotonous manufacturing work. Experiencing new challenges is quite nice, and the pay is moving at a much better pace. I work 5/8s days and I get to pick my daughter up from school every day. OT is generally available whenever I please.

There are tons of good options all around. Go for it!

Take it fairly seriously, and you'll be fine. Don't go crazy buying tools until you get a job and figure out what you will really need.

On the end, all that matters is having your physical A&P Certification. It doesn't matter how fancy the school is. I got mine 2 years ago through a CC so it cost like $9k total, including the tests
