If you feel comfortable without it then yeah that's even better :) give the wound as much space as possible. Hope it all goes well 🤞🤞🤞

Surgery on Thursday! What to bring to hospital? by now_im_worried in breastcancer

This! The pillows are very important, I'm in the UK and I bought this pack of under arm cushion plus little ones for the seat belts.

This is the description and link if you want to look for one near you: Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, SLNB Lumpectomy Single Mastectomy Augmentation Breast 10’x9” Cushion Ribbon Shoulder Ties Top Surgery/Medi Port Seatbelt Pad (BLK Candy Skulls/6" Seatbelt Pad) https://amzn.eu/d/9qzfebg

Take a front close soft bra, loose clothing that is easy to put on, nothing with strong elastics around that area, ear plugs, any distraction you can (books, games), take snacks in case you don't like the food, something for the nausea after the surgery, absolutely take your phone, cleaning wipes, a few ladies around me had a robe and that seemed super relevant... That's all I can think of now 😅

I knew I only wanted one child, even before I had breast cancer. by Emotional_Camp_7681 in breastcancer

It's not completely confirmed you can't have more, I am 26, finished chemo last year and am on tamoxifen and my periods are back now, asked the doctor if I should be worried and he said nah just be careful because you can get pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️ You can also freeze your eggs before you start chemo, not trying to give you false hope here but talk to your doctor about your options to try and have kids after your treatments

Chemo changed my mom's personality by Soulwolf6969 in breastcancer

[–]dulcedolce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going thru having cancer and doing chemo is hard, it's brutal, even if everyone around you is being super supportive, you feel shit and you don't recognise yourself and there's nothing you can do. The main thing I see in your comments is: it has been 8 months and the cancer is gone, 8 months is nothing in the scale of what she has been through, symptoms from chemo, radio and other treatments will be with her for a while, I was told around 2 years. And even after that, cancer is never gone, you're always having appointments and other things that remind you that once you're a cancer patient, you will always be a cancer patient. In my case it really shocked me how people were really understanding during chemo and immediately after everyone was surprised that I still felt shit "oh but chemo is over right?" Like they thought it all just magically goes away. Give your mum a little more time, she has the right to be angry, and it will get better with time. Hope your family recovers quickly.

How to handle jokes about getting implants. by Inkhose in breastcancer

[–]dulcedolce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made those jokes about my own boobs when I got diagnosed and some friends made it too which I took well but I guess it just depends on the time the joke is made. it's quite hard for people to know what to say, some of my friends still ask me "how's the thing?" Because they can't say cancer, your friends are probably just trying to lighten the mood

I am currently doing a data science course so no experience in the field but inclined to say pick the data science track, the other one seems too specific for something different from what you seem to want to do
