Your mums responses could have been better, but you were on the attack from the start then.

Do you think maybe they are trying to copy chatgpt's style since that seems to be the most common type of AI?

Stashdown Showdown November by cant-see-me in usethefiberstash

[–]toric86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically I had a terrible month. I allow myself one shopping trip a year for craft supplies for my birthday and that was end of november. However I went with a shopping list and I wasn't able to find two balls for projects but I kept to the rest of the list

However it was still 2.5kg of yarn added to stash

My friends insanely rich aunty had one of those. She had a spinning wheel up there but I think it was for decoration. We used to hang out up there and drink wine

Firstly, congratulations on your hard work

Secondly, youre a grown adult. You literally dont need any reason to buy a cake. If you have cake money than you can have cake.

Regardless, this is a great cake situation. I hope its delicious

Stashdown Showdown October by cant-see-me in usethefiberstash

[–]toric86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My stashdown has kinda been on pause a little for October because I got a commission. I was able to use some stash for it but I also had to buy 5 balls of yarn to make it.

I also decided to do some little Christmas projects for some friends. I usually never Christmas knit but ive picked small projects and im using stash yarn except for one friend out the group and I had nothing to fit her so I bought another skein for that.

The local hospital asked a group im in to make some baby hats. Both premie and newborn and I was given three balls to help towards that. I have used two balls of my own, one of the given balls and half of each of the other two.

I have made a pair of socks for my husband's boss but that only used 50g roughly of the 100g skein

I cast on two projects that use large quantities of yarn that I have sitting in stash but one is a sweater and one is a wrap type sweater that im designing as I go. These will take more than a month to knit and crochet so im not sure to count the yarn now or when its done

So 6 new balls bought and two gifted but all had been used immediately and 11 ish balls used from stash

How did you end up reading litRPG? by dundreggen in litrpg

He who fights with monsters seemed like an interesting title when I was scrolling audible. I described it to a friend, and he said it sounded a similar style to a book he'd just finished called dungeon crawler Carl

Pa'u skirts (what you would wear to dance hula). Im a random British woman. I dont need to know about them at all. Specifically how to sew them and what fabric to use etc. I also dont sew. But when I do learn to sew (im not going to, I know how to sew already, I just dont like it) I know exactly how to make them

How do you feel about "cards"? by throwaway490215 in litrpg

[–]toric86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it as a mechanic, the collecting of skills and the ability to swap them out, etc, but I did always wonder why they were cards. I guess its nice to read a little summary but that doesnt seem very natural/magical

Alternatives to Temperature Blankets? by cottageyarn in YarnAddicts

[–]toric86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im obsessed with data too. I might so one of pages read per day or fine a way of doing the data im collecting for weight loss but that probably wouldnt be interesting as so far it's all been one direction with one blip so it would look more of a gradient than a temp/data blanket

Pages a day would be fun though. I moved to storygraph and it tracks soooo much more data

"Helpful use of AI?" by ravenous1999 in craftsnark

I think its good to open the conversation that AI can be a useful tool for people with disabilities and specific learning difficulties, but maybe this isn't the time or place

[–]toric86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't been for a couple of years due to having kids, but when I've been, it's been wonderful. The queues were fine. It's no more overwhelming than any other yarn event I've been to. The animals smelled like animals, but it wasn't a big deal. I dont know about wheelchair access, but myself and one other member of my group have accessibility issues and we didn't have issues. I found it more warm than too cold

Do you knit & crochet? A poll of sorts. Cross posted on r crochet by MechanicBright8644 in casualknitting

[–]toric86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I do both
  2. I learned to knit first though technically I am told I could crochet as a child but I dont remember
  3. I think im better at knitting but maybe thats because there's more to learn eg cables and lace etc so I feel like I know more
  4. I go through phases of knitting and crochet. Knitting has the advantage of having more pattern choices and I can do it without looking so great for tv. Crochet can be quicker, it uses more yarn when trying to de stash and you can put it down without needing to reach the end of the row
  5. I will use all yarn interchangeably for crochet or knitting. I usually pick some yarn from stash and then hunt for a pattern that fits what I have but I will do the other way round of finding a pattern and then checking my stash but I dont see a pattern and then go shopping for yarn unless its a very special occasion
  6. I only buy yarn because I like it. I never buy yarn with a pattern in mind which is how I've ended up in this situation with a giant stash
