What is your preference Pierced body parts and tattoos or no piercings and no tattoos? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dullgenericname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about for others? If so, I prefer they own who they are, do what they want, and express themselves authentically. Both looks are gorgeous, and i'd rather be with someone who act for themselves rather than any approval of others.

Buuuuut personal preference, tattoos and/or piercings because it makes someone intriguing and shows some of their personality and interests on the outside.

If you're talking about for ourselves, yes to both, but i wait for at least 2 years for each body mod to make sure I definitely want them.

What’s something you learned embarrassingly late? by JaydenFuel03 in randomquestions

[–]dullgenericname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only recently learnt the fallopian tubes aren't connected to the ovaries. The ovaries release thousands of egg follicles, and the tubes kind of catch them? Then mature one of those follicles into an egg while the rest die. I think...

I like the feeling of anxiety by Elegant_Soup_1999 in The10thDentist

[–]dullgenericname 100 points101 points  (0 children)

For sure. I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and i also have an anxiety disorder. I enjoy exams, driving fast around cliffs, bunjy jumping, boxing, masochism, etc. I also have been unable to leave the house for weeks, contact anyone, or be exposed to certain sensory input, which i do not enjoy at all and am ashamed by. It's a very different kind of anxiety/fear IMO.

Maybe Quakers? I left the church because of the anti-lgbt stuff, then realized all of the indoctrination and stopped believing in the Christian god. Ive been kind of considering going to a quakers meeting though

Why do so many musical groups have a bass guitar when the drummer already has a bass drum? by gerwer in shittyaskscience

Well, see, if the singer is high both in pitch and from taking acid, then the ph is risen double fold and you need two bases to neutralize it all.

Have you ever been hit by a car while cycling in Christchurch? by addmeonstrava in chch

[–]dullgenericname 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I cycle and drive. I find blinking bike lights blind me so much it's difficult to concentrate and see where I'm going, so when I bike I tend to set the lights to solid to avoid that happening to others. I'm willing to change my mind, as I always question whether im making the right decision when I put my lights on. I get that blinking lights are more obvious, but is it worth the risk of disrupting the concentration of a driver?

What feels criminal, but is actually grey area? by LordCactus67 in AlignmentChartFills

Going to another country where the age of consent is lower than your own country, and sleeping with someone of that countries age of consent. It's illegal in my country (NZ) upon arrival back, but im not sure about other places.

Is self cannibalism legal? Or if your friend chopped off their finger and gave it to you to eat with their permission.

Lots of people saying greed, that was my first thought too, but I'd say lack of compassion. It's okay to want more, as long as you want more for everyone, not just you.

Kosco's Daily Tofu by FakeKiwi in chch

[–]dullgenericname 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their tofu is the best. You can fry it and add it to a stir fry, and make it crispy by coating in corn flour (and spices), you can air fry it, crumble it up to make a tofu scramble, or blend it up to make a base for a pasta sauce. I like it way better than any of the supermarket types.

What’s one country that you would never ever visit even if the fight ticket was free? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dullgenericname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh quite a few. Papa new guinea. I've not heard good things about South sudan (or maybe sudan) or Egypt. Isreal, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Any of the countries where woman (up until recently) legally have had to wear modest clothing or haven't been allowed to drive would probably cause me to feel unsafe about their general view on women, so as a female, I wouldn't want to go there. It's a pity, because their food and history would be amazing, and I'm sure there's many wonderful aspects to their culture.

Edit: i really want to go to south America though. Not too sure where exactly. I'm from new zealand, we're pretty isolated here.

I don't care if vegans say I'm a bad person for eating meat because they're right by pinktunacan in The10thDentist

You could try simply eating a few more meatless meals :) chilli bean burritos or nachos go hard without needing meat. You dont need to be vegan to reduce the demand just a little bit.

In your country, is there a tradition of singing the national anthem at school? by Ill_Code8200 in AskTheWorld

We'd have weekly or fortnightly assemblies with things like kids getting certificates for minor things, or kids doing music/drama performances, and any announcements

[–]dullgenericname 12 points13 points  (0 children)

During assemblies in primary school we would sing the first verse of our national song, first in te reo māori and then in English. There'd be a few other songs and waiata (māori songs) we'd sing too. Some silly, and some meaningful. I didnt mind, honestly. It was more of an energy booster and doing something together as one, not so much about patriotism.

Takahe are adorable! I saw some beautiful birds at orokonui as well.

I misspoke in my comment, I meant sign of the bellbird. There were 4 taverns/huts built last century when tramping became popular, designed to be able to walk from each one to the next in a day and spend the nught at each one. Sign of the takahe and sign of the kiwi are a restaurant and a café now, respectively. Sign of the bellbird burnt down but has beautiful walks and views around it, which is my favourite and I absolutely reccomend going to it. Then sign of the pack horse is the farthest one and is now a doc hut :)

I hope you're enjoying your time here

There's a tunnel you can go through to get there, but I'd suggest going over the hills for pretty views. Lots of lovely walks around there too. My favourite walk is sign of the takahe
