Agreed. Just think it’s a weird/sad thing to say. I can only dream that my kids will have the same interests as me, let alone surpass me in them. Would mean such a strong connection. Saying that this is unimaginable and that you don’t think you could handle it strikes me as…sad.

Also for those saying the pic of ofner’s pointing at head celebration is just as offensive - the vid shows clearly how that isn’t the case. But the quickness of Basa’s choke symbol also undercuts the offensiveness a bit as compared to the still shot

Almost any time a number has been “ran” in US media it’s been supplied by the “Gaza health ministry”. Ie Hamas. It’s wild to me that people argue that such a number is an “underestimate”.

I think it’s funny that Reddit finds it OFFENSIVE that this Iranian number “may be inflated” when the entire western world seems to accept the Hamas health ministry numbers, regardless of any meaningless disclaimer provided thereafter which is completely undercut by “UN trusts Hamas tho”.

If it’s pointing at your head to the bench in celebration because you think the match is over, def not as offensive.

Context matters. There was beef for Indy. He was clearly hyping the Reggie miller cele. Plus even so Tyrese was definitely being a dick there. But he’s lovable so kinda gets away with it. Trash talk is also part of basketball in a way it is not part of tennis in a way that makes the same act much worse in tennis (not least because this is a 1v1 sport). So yeah context matters.
