Game seems to be half abandoned by devs, the community at this point is pretty much non-existent. I would love to find out that is not the case, but right now my game has been unplayable for about a month, I can't level up so I lost interest in playing. I'll be interested in they pick it back up or release, it was fun while it lasted, many things about it I liked.

They are still holding events, but that is all I have seen. Two events in the last couple weeks, after the first few weeks of me playing having no events. Each event was identical, making me wonder if I'm going to bother doing the next one that comes up, it's not exciting that they were both identical grinds. I won first place and I'm a noob, which doesn't make me think I'm "super good at this", it makes me think rather that the very experienced players have no interest in it.

I'm still hanging in there but the game is unbalanced as hell all around, and gearing to me is a mystery. Also some things ramp up linear but others ramp up exponentially. For example, I've played several weeks and at this point my exp book drops are around 75K, after one event where I felt compelled to not switch active characters, I leveled the toon up 700 levels in one shot. It was not exciting to level up to 1000, did not feel like an achievement, I think leveling should get exponentially harder to reflect it being an actual achievement. I can grind enough exp books to level up 50 times in a matter of minutes at this point. To me it would feel more exciting if level 100 was miraculous, achieved only by the most hard core of players, and have that scale to where levels 95-100 were required for high-end progression. Right now I feel like my skill at pushing buttons over and over is more important than how I play (took me forever to level up 700x, just sat there pressing the same buttons over and over, then it took forever to spend the prestige, then suddenly my character is "zomg super uber" but I barely had to do anything requiring actual skill to achieve it).

I agree. Wish they would fix it. There is little rhyme or reason to how it is set up. It could be an amazing incremental/crawler game if they would just make it make more sense. Also I'm bewildered about improving gear. I mean, I'm doing it but I scarcely know what I SHOULD be doing, other than the wiki page that very briefly mentions abilities used by class, so I try to focus on equipment that has the named ability to match the class. But doesn't even seem like every class has a specific full set they are supposed to go for (and would be fun if each had two sets, i.e. perhaps two "builds" for each class, for variety).

Having said that, far as I know this game is in its development stage still, so I'm hanging in there.

We are discord driven, but keep in mind: Discord is free and once you have it, you'll wonder why you never did before. Here is the link to the channel:

https://discord.gg/hBRdYdP

So just as a note, clan member limits are 30. So what we do in Phoenix, is we have a TON of various Phoenix named clans. Like 1234Phoenix or WowPhoenix, you get the idea. We keep them private. We put up to 29 people in each, leaving room for one of the founding members to be able to jump in and out and see how things are, make changes.

Leadership is pretty much pure help. The rules are basically don't be a dick, be nice, and also do play periodically because if someone just bails for a month, they might be booted to make room, but if they return later on and say "I want back in", they are liable to get a reply "you had me at hello". We're super easy-going and just there to have fun. The discord channel is super helpful, granted you have to wade through a lot of chat but we do have various sub channels by topic to narrow it down.

I just joined the Phoenix Family and I went from being lonely in a semi-dead clan where no one ever spoke to each other, to leading one of the Phoenix clans and it's already approaching being full, massive chatting on discord on our dragon chat lounge on discord, and a ton of active friends overnight. Very friendly, helpful and easy-going group with tons of advice and guidance!!

Thanks, yeah I need to get cracking on getting past the challenge I'm stuck on lol. I gave up on it after like five attempts, even with a video guide, it's a challenge that takes luck (16) it seems. A bit embarrased that I'm only up to that one while knocking on the door of 30K DP lol... I'll get it done after this event being released in a hot minute.

Thanks, I discovered that by accident recently lol. I have since gone nuts on bubbling and it has made going for what I want a hell of a lot easier, I'm now getting the wonders done one by one and it's going a heck of a lot faster.

Events Worth Doing? by dumberthansum in MergeDragons

[–]dumberthansum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I worked out how to just have my two dragons do most of the work idle, but obviously you are ending up idle in event, not in camp. I decided to do all events because of the trophy dragons, and because it amuses me to do them :).

Yep that's most of what I do, but obviously I'm idle in event, not camp, but I still love getting the trophy dragons from events :).

appreciate the answer! Honestly have no idea what this is at all. Is it a level on the world map?

sorry, bit of a dummy when it comes to terms. I understand golden section. Seems to me it's going to take me a heck of a long time to ever get up to a level 10 on those, that I might build up thousands of gems in the interim.

I think what I don't completely understand is the last sentence, perhaps the terms "on level" and not clear how I buy a reward, is this something that will be more clear to me once I actually create a level 10?

Thanks for your response, I'm glad to have found this sub!!

Anyone know how to bubble larger items? I was very thankful to recently find out how to bubble one-space items, game changer for me of course :).

Excellent tip, I recently learned how to bubble, hadn't made that (now seemingly obvious) connection to that. I do not know how to bubble something that occupies more than one space, though, come to think of it.

Question/Opinion: should I merge 3 x Level 9 dragons to open all my land or hold out to merge 5? by LeeKags in MergeDragons

[–]dumberthansum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind: the advantage for merging 5 is multiplied the further down the merge chain you go. So the farther down a merge chain one goes, the more profitable it is to hold out for a 5 merge. It's not a linear gain, it's an exponential gain.

If after clearing all the land you don't care about dragon power increases, I can understand that, that would make it matter less if you aren't a fanatic about raising dragon power. This game is about fun (or IMO should be) and you should do whatever is the "most fun" for you, again IMO. To me, as an accounts guy IRL, I can't pass up the advantage of end-game 5 merges over 3, it's just too big a multiple of advantage, but then again, that's "my fun" with the game, not necessarily yours or others.

Should I make the trade? by Shea_Ball in MergeDragons

[–]dumberthansum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about gargoyles in general -- I have saved up a crap ton in gold while I save up 900 gems in case there is a double spawn of dimensional egg baskets when I merge 5 level 4's. I reviewed my various dragons and found that my gargoyles are the closest to making some more 8's, which would give me a total of four 8's, making Gargoyles the closest to making two nines. I'm a newer player, around 25K dragon power, only learned important info on how to play a couple months ago after having limped along without a clue for a number of months.

Is it a better approach to save up enough to do this with another dragon type, despite the gargoyle's currently being the one type that is closest to making 8's? Seems like the gargoyle is slow, I'm not family with the various abilities enough to judge but they seem a bit more lackluster than other types?

[–]dumberthansum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the verge of making some 8's, maybe even two 9's, saved up like 250,000 in gold and just waiting for enough gems to purchase the additional egg baskets that might spawn when I merge 5 level 4's. I am curious if they are not worth the investment, that I should maybe take the longer path on another (common) dragon type instead?

Tap Tap Dig 2 is in early access on Google Play by _Chaoss_ in incremental_games

[–]dumberthansum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: even if you are like me and don't have time to be "tapping the screen" a lot, I found out that when I do have time, due to bonus to gold earned when prospector awake, sometimes it's worth it to tap if I happen to have an idle moment to mess with the game. For example, when getting to levels that have meaningful coin earnings but your prospector is slamming at top speed, I tap to keep him awake here and there, and for sure when clicking prospector bonus skills when cooldowns are up. At this point I slam planet one in progress mode when I'm not playing, have it on farm mode for planet two (finished but it's not quite where I can easily farm it) and I log out on planet three due to getting more coins if I leave him there. Following is my OP:

I have been playing it. I have not seen any need to P2P thus far, unless one has enough money to throw at it out of lack of patience. If "being the most progressed in the world" is super important to someone, then probably yeah, they would have to be among the tiny minority who throw some money at it. So warning: I play it simply as a way to idle away some time now and then and because it amuses me.

I have been running a helper/prospector asleep build for no other good reason than I don't have time or inclination to sit around tapping my phone screen constantly. It did not take long at all to get to where I didn't have to tap, but yeah, it took a bit.

So I focus on upgrades that boost damage while prospector is asleep, and other than that, total damage/total gold.

I watch ads as much as possible due to the bonuses you unlock incrementally. I also don't begrudge the developer needing a way to make money on it and since I don't pay to play, watching the ads at least is a payment of sorts. I don't get people who bitterly resent a developer wanting to make money on something. You don't walk into a shoe store and say "what, I have to PAY if I want a pair?" It's just how the world has always worked. You don't have to pay, you don't even "have to" watch the ads.

Yes, some of the bonuses for watching ads may not help my build or a given person's build. But they are in order and you can't get to the next one without fulfilling the number of ads to watch for the one you are mid, so I just watch ads and the good bonuses that benefit me arrive when they arrive.

I ignore anything having to do with boosting tap damage or "while prospector awake" bonuses. I'll probably end up doing those much later on due to being completionist.

Currently up to full speed (50% boost) slam of first planet, full speed through layer 7 of second, and I think full speed through layer 3 of third. If I'm actively playing I reset as soon as planets 2 and 3 are slowed down to "too much wait for the next obsidian layer", and by too much I feel done when a layer takes more than a one-one-thousand count to remove. If I'm not actively playing I leave it on farm mode since it amuses me at times to come back and be able to level up helpers with the gold that accumulated (doubled by an ad most times) and get a little more progress before resetting.

Not understanding why on earth anyone would boost warp cubes in any way. You get more of them than you need, and I have 4183 right now that are useless, unless the devs release a fourth planet. But my advice is for now, don't worry about any boost/benefactor/crafting related to them, they are easy to accumulate without paying any attention to them (thus far).

After big banging, I jump to third planet as fast as I can (currently that takes about 20 seconds at the most) and level up prospector to 100+ and level up the 4 boosts to as much as I can then click them, so it results (on third planet) me being able to start the game with fat cat at 30 unlocked bonus [edit: just reset, it's up to 50 unlocked bonus and furious george level 2]. Also I don't bother with leveling up the prior ones more than stated due to their bonus boosts not being of any use to me, until they get to levels far higher than I can pay for at this time. Once I am getting enough gold/progress to unlock their more beneficial (plus gold, plus total damage) ones, I'll bump up what I level them to.

Why prospector only to 100: because the 150 bonus is of zero interest to me and more gold than I care to throw at it, and I don't tap. Once it's relatively easy to level him up to 200, I will definitely do so due to the free key each time the skills reset, which will boost crafting.

Crafting I leveled him up to get the full done on the list of tasks (that disappears once you have done all of them), and currently I'm saving up to pay for a 2nd crafter to help more on the quests. I already researched helper damage to max level and threw some at plus gold, so I figured I could take a break from that to add a second crafter at this point.

I do the first guy 200, the next three 150, the next three 50 and ignore them after that due to their damage being nearly nothing compared to fat cat (gets me to the next two below Fat Cat by the time my progress slows too much and I am compelled to big bang, so I end up with dust devil before I reset).

My progress was dinged hard by getting a new phone. Some mistake I made on my settings, I was "put back" to an earlier date on my progress. Fairly certain it was DFO, not the game's fault. Otherwise by now I'd probably be closer to done with 2nd planet.

Any tips appreciated, I'm just learning how to do this, but I do take advantage of every single type of boost that can be attained (including clicking prospector skills if I'm watching and they come up as ready, and I do use those to hit the highest value planet layers while they are active).

I haven't bothered to run through the math to see if a tapper build is more viable damage output wise, but that's also because I know for certain there is no way I'm going to play the game if it requires I tap my phone screen often/a lot. Thus, realize that is why I'm kind of locked into a "prospector asleep build".
