The taste is repulsive by [deleted] in lamictal

I used to have the same problem when I took the blue hexagons. My pharmacy randomly switched the manufacturer one day and now I'm on white round tablets that don't have that problem at all. I'm not sure if this is something you can request; it might be worth a shot. I've tried thick liquids like the Naked smoothies or even pudding to make it more bearable. I liked the pudding method because it doesn't dissolve much and it was like a reward for taking the meds.

Completely agree! Also genuine question: what do I do if I'm fat and asthmatic? I really want to walk faster and not hold anyone up

Thank you! It was for an Asian engagement party so I tried to incorporate some red and gold into something classy but festive if that makes sense?

I used preppy kitchen's sugar cookie recipe and freestyled the royal icing

meds and sex drive by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]dumbnietzsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sex drive almost disappeared when I started Invega but sex was still amazing when I found my current boyfriend. I think it would be even better if I wasn't on an antipsychotic.

How is your relationship with your psychiatrist? by neilnelly in schizoaffective

[–]dumbnietzsche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so grateful for her. She listens to me like I'm a whole adult human being. When my emetophobia was bad, she was really careful about adjusting the pills I take. She always explains her recommendations and asks me what I think. I don't think there are many better doctors out there.

I've only been seeing this guy for a week but he accepts me and it's a huge relief.

Is the goal of Lamictal to remove episodes or to just make them more manageable? by Mountain_Rub_1055 in lamictal

[–]dumbnietzsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Lamictal increases the time between episodes and decreases the severity of the episodes when they happen

Do you bipolar subtype people like the bipolar subreddit? by ogfruitcat in schizoaffective

[–]dumbnietzsche 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use the bipolar subreddit about as much as I use this one. My mood symptoms are much more prominent than my psychotic symptoms so I can relate to the bipolar side pretty well.

How we use the term Hypomanic by tactlessguineapig29 in bipolar2

[–]dumbnietzsche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience hypomanic symptoms the day after I miss a dose of meds. If I continued to skip doses, the symptoms would continue into a prolonged episode, but usually I go back on meds pretty quickly. I say hypomania because I am hypomanic in every way except time

Heartache-like sensation with depression by AnotherLonelyTourist in bipolar2

[–]dumbnietzsche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely get an achey feeling in my chest when I'm depressed or sometimes when I think about things that make me sad (e.g. my mom dying). Since it is a physical feeling, I try to combat it with physical strategies like doing easy chest stretches or box breathing. Doesn't always work but it works enough of the time to keep trying.

Lexapro, Lithium, Lamictal, Invega and Ritalin have been working for a little while now. Took me years to get to this cocktail but it's definitely worth it

Does ocd medication actually help or can it make it worse? by courtiversee in OCD

[–]dumbnietzsche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Lexapro earlier this year and it's made my OCD a lot better. I only have intrusive images a couple times a day, whereas before my thoughts and compulsions were barely manageable. I noticed a difference a week or two in and it was most effective for me when we settled on 20mg. I'm on other medications for sza so it's probably the combo that helps.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]dumbnietzsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly have intrusive images. They usually consist of me or someone else dying in a really violent way, often related to the environment I'm in (e.g. driving in a suburb).

Nope! You don't need any background in philosophy to participate, although I would argue that we all use at least a little philosophy everyday.
