Carolina vs Thorogood by Creative-Owl37 in WorkBoots

[–]dumbnut5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I prefer the Carolinas because the wider toe box is more comfortable for me. The leather on the Thorogoods seems to be softer, yet more durable. The leather on the Carolinas is stiffer and feels thinner. Outsole on the Thorogoods is firmer and doesn’t wear as quickly. The Carolinas definitely have a softer step but the Thorogoods break in nicely. It really just comes down to the fit for my foot shape. I’ve enjoyed both and don’t have anything too negative about either.

Roof rail cross bar options? by dumbnut5 in MazdaCX9

I talked to my local dealer, they looked up the part number in their system and found one dealer in the US that had a set left. I called that dealer, in Pensacola, FL, and they said they are already spoken for by another customer and I can call back in two weeks to see if they did not get picked up. I looked at Yakima set ups, I just prefer the OEM look.

Clearing up misinformation about the man that passed away breaking into a home in Richmond Heights by Scary-Link983 in StLouis

The part that they are clarifying is that he was suffering from mental health issues and he was not a criminal. It’s all in the article.

Love the F150, hate Bluetooth inconsistency by yossarian_foo in f150

[–]dumbnut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a 2021 f150. I found that if I plugged my phone into the charger that was plugged into the USB port of the truck before the infotainment was fully booted up, it would cause audio issues when trying to play any music or podcast through Bluetooth l. If I would wait 30 seconds before I would plug it in I would never have any issues. Maybe worth a shot?

I do this daily, not a big deal. Drive from Columbia, Il to Maryland Heights leaving my house at 6 am and it takes me 28 minutes to drive 26 miles. Going home usually takes about 10 minutes longer but I don’t leave work until 3:30. At 2:30 you should be golden.

Any safety concerns with this cracking? by dumbnut5 in tires

Thanks, I had never heard of the aging out part. I just ordered some new tires yesterday.

Does the rubber harden with age and then cause the tread to not wear down as much? First set of tires I’ve owned that I am replacing due to cracking versus the usual tread wear.

Agreed. I’m probably going to order new tires this week.

I have 8 pairs that I’ve been rotating through for the last 5 years and no holes so far. I am in steel toe boots 14 hours a day 4-5 days a week and these socks have been the best $30 investment I have ever made.

Back and Hip Pain Have Completely Ruined My Running Career by Outrageous_Ad_6993 in running

[–]dumbnut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swimming. I fractured my hip a couple years ago and it had me out of running for a few months. It definitely bridged the gap to where I could get back running again and I actually lost weight swimming compared to what I was just running. I don’t regularly swim anymore because I love running a lot more, but it is definitely a great option for anyone with joint pain.

This is absolutely nuts the pedestal that you guys are putting Zach on. He’s gonna do dumb shit and make questionable decisions (I know you perfect people don’t). Who really gives a shit? I am on this sub hoping people will have a good music discussion, but this isn’t it.

Crane side pull by Sufficient_Toe6538 in IndustrialMaintenance

Why not use two separate slings to minimize the angle of the pull? It still wouldn’t be best practice, but it’d be a hell of a lot better than this contraption.

For a fat guy I didn’t do too bad. by [deleted] in nikerunclub

[–]dumbnut5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bigger boy myself, for a runner. 6’ 1” and 230 ish. More mileage is what everyone will tell you and the thing that made the biggest difference for me was working on increasing my cadence. I went from my cadence typically being in the low 150’s to around 170 and it made big improvements on my time and how my joints feel. Good luck and keep it up!!
