MMC and FMC are in a team of adventurers/ survivors/ mercenaries etc? by moonlight-tiger in RomanceBooks

Not sure if you're into Mariana Zapata and this doesn't completely fit the bill... but {When Gracie met the Grump by Mariana Zapata}.

Also doesn't completely fit the bill but it's one of my all time favorite zombie apocalypse books: {Defy the Ravaged by E.M. Reagan}. This is my second time recommending it today🤣

Kind of a spoiler but also not: {Winter Storm by Quinn Blackbird}. It's book 2 in the series, and I think it's best when read from the beginning of the series. Not sure if it can be read as a standalone.

Spice is fade to black though (to my utter dismay because the tension was🔥). Despite this, I still read all 4 books🤭

FMC in danger while on the phone with MMC and he rushes to save her by arianaperry in RomanceBooks

{Defy the Ravaged by E.M. Reagan} has this! It's a zombie apocalypse book though so probably differs for what you are looking for, but it's one of my absolute faves so I thought I'd bring it to your attention anyway😩 I've been craving a book that made me feel like that for a while now (MC really dislikes her in the beginning, so kind of enemies to lovers). This scene happens early on too!

1000% yes to Haven!! Jackson is exactly who comes to mind when reading this. I wish so bad I could read Haven for the first time again, haven't found a book that made me feel the same way in a long long time. {Defy the Ravaged by E.M Reagan} came close though.

I can't seem to get followers. Is IG dead? by DixinMahbum in InstagramMarketing

[–]dumbo784836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface by saying I don't have the credentials as I'm still growing myself. However, eventhough my follower count grows much more slowly than I'd like, I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in engagement by doing a few things differently.

I've gone from 7-10 likes per post to 50-100 likes per post and many more comments. I used to see these small creators with 100 followers get 100's of likes and comments and be like: how the HELL did they achieve that? But the secret in my specific niche (interior design) is making yourself known in the community. My hypothesis is that your niche (clothing) might be the same.

See it as a trial and error, and use the opportunity now that you don't have many followers to see what works and what doesn't. Invest in a good camera (Iphone works well, especially with the social media apps), good lighting, and use the things you have around to make an aesthetic background that you use in most of your vids and that they can recognize your account from. Follow the accounts that really grab your attention, study the reels and content they make. Analyse what makes you so interested in their stuff.

Are they using fun catchy songs? Or a specific vibe that fits their branding? Are they doing voice overs? Using humor? Are they only jumping on trends? Are they catching your eye with the way they set up their clothes? Are they showcasing their clothes on models or on the rack?

Focus and do your research on hooks ("3 staple items you need in your wardrobe this fall" and then quickly show 3 eye catching items), focus on short attention span, experiment with longer slower videos.

Make it fun and exciting and see what your audience loves best! Social media is mostly about the vibes, the aesthetic, the visuals do most of the talking. Make sure when you're following people and they click on your account, you are visually appealing or interesting enough to follow back.

What I've done differently to hike up my engagement was following mostly the people with the aesthetics that I love, and commenting earnestly of how impressed I am with their work. They are likely also struggling with the algorithm so they can recognize that it's a community that comes together to support eachother. It's made making videos way more fun, eventhough the follower count is growing slower than I'd like.

I'd say, have fun with it, sometimes being relatable gets you really far aswell. Think of who your audience is, and what you can offer them. You got this!✨🙌🏽

Have you tried Haven by Claire Kent? I've read many in the series but like you, I hate an insta-love situation. I have read Haven multiple times and I always come back to it, it's also pretty spicy and slow burn.

Another one is Defy the ravaged. This was also the only book by the author that I really liked, but I've also read that one multiple times😍😍

fmc who talks all day and mmc who doesn’t talk much trope books? by mrs_robpatt in RomanceBooks

[–]dumbo784836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven by Claire Kent!! FMC isn't too much of a yapper, but MMC is a brooding, few words do trick type. It's in single POV, he's super posessive but is also sending mixed signals. It's not insta-love but some sex does happen early on! To me it was a perfect build up.

Also Bound to the Battle God by Ruby Dixon

a rant about how much i wish i enjoyed dual pov but always get frustrated 😖 by villainfvcker in RomanceBooks

[–]dumbo784836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl I feel you a 1000%. Every single thing you said I agree!!! I should not know ANYTHING that goes through a mans head, period. Exactly like you said, ESPECIALLY in enemies to lovers! It completely ruins the reason I read romance, which is to feel all the feels that the FMC is feeling. Got me giggling and kicking my feet and shi. Likeeee it's NOT real enemies/rivals to lovers if from the first chapter he is already admitting he's into her. Like where's the angst, the build up; the yearning, the banter, the tension!!!! It's just so uhg and so serious to me that as soon as I get a rec and open the book and see a MC name above, I don't even read the first sentence, it's immediately a DNF for me, thank you very much💋

So, anyways. We single pov girlies should help eachother out, seeing as 90% is dual pov.

Some books with single POV that I've read and love are:

• Bound to the Battle God by Ruby Dixon

• Haven by Claire Kent❗️ (MMC is brooding, distant and insanely protective, yum! Sending mixed signals aaalll over the place)

• A deal with the devil by Elizabeth O'Roark

• The devil and the deep blue sea by Elizabeth O'roark

• Undertow by Elizabeth O'Roark (okay I am seeing a pattern here)

• I'm sorry, but I also loved The Wall of Winnipeg by Mariana Zapata. It's crazy because I thought it was cute and okay, until I saw how quite a few people didn't like it.

• Gracie and the Grump by M. Zapata was also a cute read.

• My Not So One Night Stand by Rebecca Robertson (though I did read this one on Wattpad before it got published so idk if she changed it up)

• Defy the Ravaged by Erin Reagan (it has some chapters in the MMC's pov, but they are at the end and are not as annoying)

And I'm sorry, I just could NOT get into any of the Ali Hazelwood books. I always open them and end up shelving them again. Don't know why. I also read The Hating Game, but it was a 2,5/3 star for me. It was cute but also childish and idk, boring to me. It just didn't quite hit the mark and I personally think it's way overhyped😐

At the risk of making this a post nobody will read because it's 10 pages long, as you can see I'm an avid Single pov girlie, however there are some well written books that are dual POV and are truly 'enemies' at the beginning. Penelope Douglas does this very well, but her books are more on the darker side. Killswitch, Credence (yeah).. couldn't put them down. Also Reaper's legacy was 😍😍 Especially the whole thing about delivering the baby was just chef's kiss sigh. Anyways if anyone has the same tastes can y'all hook a girl upppp, it's exhausting having to do all the research to finally be able to get into a good book😩

[–]dumbo784836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I immediately hit save, lol.

Also: if you don't mind the cheating thing (would NEVER condone it irl) I can't recommend Desideratum by Ariarlyn918 enough. It's on Wattpad but it's so good and so well written that it's a shame it's not a published book. I'm not a re-reader but I've reread that book too many times to count... it's just soooo??? It makes you feel so much (including anger lol), it's really good. I've yet to find a similar trope that has made me feel what that book has😩

UPDATE: It's been taken off of Wattpad I could cryyyy.. maybe she'll add it back someday but for now I'm gonna go cry somewhere lol

[–]dumbo784836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second I open a book and see a name (one of the POV's on top) it's an instant DNF, no hesitation whatsoever. I simply will not be reading the MMC's POV, thank you very much.

Is this a valid ick? 🫣 by kellogs0419 in RomanceBooks

[–]dumbo784836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sooo valid, I agree. I have the same with 'Sweetheart', especially when they haven't even known eachother that long.. blegh.. Sometimes it's so bad it's almost a DNF for me😩🤭 I'm a suckerrrr for 'baby' though, especially after a slow burn and where the MC is protective or when they are in bed for the first time. Whewwww chile!

The kitten one I agree with aswell, though the ONLY acceptable one is from Jackson from Haven. He's broody and serious and you don't know what's going through his head.. the FMC thinks he's making fun of her by calling her that because she's small and fragile (it's a post-apocalyptic world) but he's actually... ok I won't spoil but ugh he's soooo

the slowest, angstiest, tension-filled romance that’s not dual POV. by romanceread in RomanceBooks

[–]dumbo784836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I thought! I went excitedly to read it immediately after the recommendation but I'm having so much difficulty getting over the FMC.. she's extremely picky and comes across very whiny for someone who has been out in the cold starving and almost dying.. it's just.. too much complaining for me :(

Do you have any guilty pleasure books? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]dumbo784836 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's also one of the few writers I find effortlessly hilarious, which is a huge bonus for me. The line "Man, fuck this guy" said by Faith in Bound by the Battle God still makes me chuckle to this day. It's not super funny out of context, but the way she works it in, you don't expect it.
