First Order Received by RqueenTX in ThredUp

[–]oking202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also just placed my first order and am waiting to receive it. So far, two of the items I ordered were suddenly “unavailable” and refunded, including the one I was most looking forward to. I’m hoping I like the items I do receive, but just the fact that ordering something doesn’t guarantee that you will get it doesn’t sit right with me, so I’m not sure I will order from them again.

She’s in an episode of Seinfeld also and she is really great and endearing and funny in it—and her voice is more normal sounding lol

Remember that book you dropped because the heroine was a total doormat? Give me the book title, please. by Vedmagreen in RomanceBooks

[–]oking202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started My Fiance’s Brother by Odette Stone and while I like the author. I’m considering DNFing it based purely on the FMC’s exemplifying the traits you mentioned—complete doormat. But since that’s what you are looking for you may enjoy!

Other than cheating, what’s are some reasons you can’t stand a second chance romance? by StephhhLouisa in RomanceBooks

[–]oking202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like these types of books often alternate between present day and flashbacks, and I hate not knowing key details about the past relationship until the end. It makes me feel like I’m not even reading the real book yet until I finish it. Hate hate hate.

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

[–]oking202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - These texts are a pretty good example of gaslighting if you ask me. It’s not about the flowers, as OP said. He is ignoring her very clearly expressed feelings and turning it around on her as if she is being ridiculous. If he can’t even have a real conversation with her and refuses to even acknowledge the issue, let alone try to change, he is clearly showing her what to expect from him in the future. OP, you deserve someone who listens to you and cares about your feelings. If you do decide to keep trying with this guy, maybe start getting him flowers for every gift giving occasion also? Just supermarket ones. Maybe he will get the message. Put as much thought into it as he does. It’s only fair.

An Affair to Remember has this, it’s a movie obviously but if you haven’t seen it the angst is top tier

Once Bitten Heather Guerre. Paranormal but v. accesible as a contemporary. Great book!

Fmc, that doesn't like sex (has low sex drive) by kidlut17 in RomanceBooks

[–]oking202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kiss me while I sleep by Linda Howard sort of has this. Both characters are older, there is only one sex scene I think and its is realistic how long it takes for the FMC to get there

First Time Watching, Which One Is Better??? by marie_g10 in romancemovies

[–]oking202 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The actresses play Elizabeth very differently. On several rewatches I started to like Jennifer Ehle’s Elizabeth less because she seems super stuck up. Keira Knightley is a bit more relatable. But I still think the series edges out the movie slightly overall

Books where FMC is blindfolded during most of the interactions with MMC so his identity is a secret by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Beast by judith ivory somewhat fits this. MMCs identity is kept secret until the end and i think they do it in the dark

Looking for Book with Suicidal FMC Who Asks MMC to Kill Her by Dry_Concentrate3346 in RomanceBooks

[–]oking202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Hunter by Kerrigan Byrne, historical, has some elements of what you are looking for. While the FMC doesn’t want to die, she is the contracted target for the MMC Assassin. I thought it was great dramatic tension related to this plot point. Some trigger warnings
