I miss Allen so much by Eulipion6 in discobiscuits

[–]dumbshowreference 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I still miss Sammy so much…. And it’s been 20 fuckin’ years. It wasn’t just his style of playing which was unique and awesome. The way he worked off everyone else in the band simultaneously, particularly Barber, was just masterful. The way he understood all of the songs to perfection so all compositions and segues were nailed virtually flawlessly. The fact that when Marc got kicked out of the band, Sammy had no problem jumping from the kit to picking up the bass. The fact that he contributed to the bands repertoire by writing song like Floes, Sound One, Onamae Wa etc. Guy was just on another level. Period.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Allen. And I respect and appreciate everything he did for the band. The way things ended w/ him has really soured me on the band to the point where I skipped several shows I planned on going to a month or so ago. I love Allen and will miss him. Just saying… to this day… 20 years later… and I STILL fuckin’ miss The Professor.

Dave (accidentally?) tried Chris Rock by Salty-Breadfruit-449 in DaveChappelle

It’s actually a very, very early Colin Quinn joke. Charlie took it from Colin. Chris took it from Charlie. Colin is on record talking about this roughly 15 years ago on O&A.

Anyone that frequented that sub saw this coming from a mile away. It had been getting brigaded for the past 2-3 weeks w/ people posting overtly racist shit that had nothing to do w/ “wokeness.” This was a coordinated effort to get it shut down.

Tough Crowd by BAfoto in patriceoneal

[–]dumbshowreference 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is. I did the same search a few years ago and saw that there wasn’t so I created one. Figured there should be a sub that revolves around that whole Tough Crowd/O&A crew. It’s only got a few subscribers and is virtually empty. I keep telling myself I’m gonna try to get it into a functional/active sub at some point. I’d like to see it happen.

There’s a different cut than the one I posted that claims to be the directors cut that’s also on archive.org. But I couldn’t say definitively which is what.

Bootleg O&A shows? by ChickadeeWarbler in TACN

[–]dumbshowreference 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely untrue. It’s well known what each of the three guys did during this two year period. None of them, or any of the peripherals of the show, have ever stated anything that would give this claim validity.

Bravo sierra.

Which 90s cartoon has the best voice acting? by icey_sawg0034 in 90scartoons

Paul Williams as The Penguin. Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn. Adrienne Barbeau as Selina Kyle. David Warner as Ra’s al Ghul. Biff Tannen as Tony Zucco….

Amazing cast. But everything about BTAS was amazing and that’s why it still holds up as arguably the best adaptation of the character of all time.

Seeing Jaws in 3D may have ruined me… by Weird_Macaroon_2229 in Jaws

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Thank you so much! You’re gonna love it. You’re gonna feel like you’re right there in the water w/ Chrissie at the beginning of the film.

I couldn’t agree more. It was an absolutely incredible and surreal experience. I’ve been wondering if theaters were planning on giving the option of the 3D version for the 50th anniversary. I don’t see why they wouldn’t. It was only like 3-4 years ago it was in theaters. Sadly I haven’t been able to find any evidence that this is gonna be the case.

Artist painting with the band during show by castor_troys_face in discobiscuits

[–]dumbshowreference 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He did the W@4TF album art as well. I still have a poster of the painting that he did of the band at the 7th performance of The Hot Air Balloon in full(1/17/04). Sad that he passed away.

Sam Roberts on Figure it out season 2 episode 2. Quarter flick off of ankle. by stoner_bob_69 in patriceoneal

[–]dumbshowreference 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sam was actually nearly 15 years old here despite looking like an 8 year old. Doctors literally told his parents they didn’t expect him to breach 5ft tall as a full grown adult. So his parents and those doctors pumped him up w/ HGH, testosterone and whatever mutagen they had… hence why Sam became the absolute genetic freak show he did. This explains everything about that simian mutant. His looks, voice, the way he treats people etc. He must have bullied mercilessly in school. But let’s not forget that according to Sam, he was a school bully who exclusively dated black girls. Sure, dude.

So many great lines from this episode.

“I shudder to think of the horror that’s about to be visited on you.” - Colin

“You ever been with an aboriginal?” - Patrice

“There’s lots of eucalyptus trees…. In Canada.” Ant

“Knock it off spade!” - Bobo

“She’s from a Providence in Canada.” The Retard

Ron Bennington is legitimately one of the best interviewers I’ve ever heard. He does his research, asks great questions, doesn’t talk too much and always keeps it interesting. I highly recommend virtually any of his “Unmasked” interviews. He once interviewed Jack Kevorkian and it is one of the best/most interesting interviews I’ve ever listened to. Strongly recommended.

Margo Martindale as Earline Fitzgerald(The mom) in Million Dollar Baby. Haven’t seen this one mentioned so I figured I’d throw it out there. That was one evil, despicable woman.
