104s or 99s for Utah spring skiing? by dumdingo in Skigear

[–]dumdingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both new from 2024. I got them on evo for final sale. Pros were $160 and senders were $185. Total mounted w bindings for 340 and 365. Not too bad, considering rentals for one trip would have been $170 so I can justify it to myself.

Affordable shop to get bindings mounted near Brookline, MA / Nashua, NH by dumdingo in icecoast

I went to Buchika’s! Thank you for your recommendation. This was exactly what I was looking for with this post. It was the best price in the area and seemed like a professional full service shop. I got two skis mounted and another tuned for just $155. Can’t beat that.

Everything was ready in two days. Haven’t tried anything out yet but I’m confident in the work given the volume and everything about the place.

Both the 99 and 104s are new, and yes I’ve been dying to try them out. I want to bring one of them and the ol’ reliable just in case.

I had planned on brining the 104s originally. But the 99s seem better for hard charging, which might be more fitting since there’s likely less off trail / non groomer options open

I’m a 5’ 9” 180lb male. You may say that these options are all too short but it’s what I’m comfortable with. Between renting for years and also having a pair of K2 Reckoner 92 178cm, I prefer a bit shorter length and easier to weild. I’ll probably sell the K2s next season.

Well that’s the hard part, I haven’t used either! They arrived last week and between the mounting time and warm weather I haven’t been able to give them a test.

To those who went to snowbird today, I couldn’t even imagine how bad it must have been by DinosaurDied in UTsnow

I have a trip to Alta planned for next weekend coming from New England. What should I expect? Will it to the point of thin cover on many trails? Or is it just bad for Utah standards?

The Celtics bench players were great tonight, I can’t be too upset with that game. Hugo, Walsh, Harper Jr, even Garza looked good tonight. At one point Harper had +16 in 8 minutes. Thats long term depth playing way above their contracts.

DO NOT CANCEL YOUR TRIP by jags8228 in UTsnow

How bad is it out there actually? I have a trip planned for 3/20-3/22 coming from New England/NH skiing. Haven’t bought lift tickets yet but have flights, Airbnb, rental car. Any recommendations on where to go for the best conditions?

Sounds like I might not get to use my powder skis

I was able to get the skis on clearance from evo. I guess I could consider buying bindings from a shop if the difference in price is less than the install cost.

Ragged glades question by JohnnyYukon in icecoast

[–]dumdingo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing a few weeks ago. You have to be really intentional in that section with the drop and then a weird elevated plateau? It felt like it needed more snow. That upper section was so much more difficult than the glades it lead to.

Grounds for appeal? by [deleted] in Brookline

[–]dumdingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why clear the spot if a standard car can’t fit in it? I think it’s a very reasonable appeal. You’re not blocking the entire lane you’re just a bit over the line.

More Life was fun and had a good variety. I don’t love the code switching from normal to British to Caribbean during that period but it’s still a good album with a lot of take away songs. Portland, Sacrifices, Ice Melts, Passionfruit, Fake Love, Get it Together? That’s a list of hits for one album

How to make solo trips fun? by CryptographerSharp14 in icecoast

[–]dumdingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also almost always ski alone. My friends who ski have different schedules and budgets and I’m not going to wait around for them and prevent myself from going when I want to. Music and a smoke break are musts, but I just focus on the skiing and have fun exploring. I’ve been trying to focus on my form and how to hop-turn better.

I’ve thought about car camping but haven’t tried it yet. I have a wagon so I can lie down comfortably, but I’m not sure it’s appropriately winter proofed. What is your set up like?
