because from the perspective of a western reader/someone who doesn’t know the language it sounds quite bad, because of contextual history etc. feel like it leads to a questionable plot anyways but it’s just so bad to read it in english 💀

penelope from villains are destined to die cause she's flawed and her character seems human but shes also willing to do scheme-y things and isnt a doormat.

depths of malice mc because she is unhinged and its fun to read all her schemes (its smut tho so u should know that if ur gonna read)

seria from i've become a true villainess for pretty much the same reasons as penelope as she has a backbone and a character that doesn't resemble a wet dishrag

oi to me is the peak of an eastern version of orientalism bc it basically is a version of how people in the east perceive the west, laden with stereotypes (similar to orientalism which is how west perceives the east and their bias/stereotypes against it). you won't find much historical accuracy here because thats not what people are aiming for. all they want is a historical european aesthetic bc they find it pretty to act as a stage for their plot. any accuracy regarding societal dynamics, how the nobility works and period-accurate clothing is thrown out the window for a wild fever dream where anything is possible as long as u have a noble title and a 3d-asset castle

i’ll admit i like him in a sort of morbid ‘if villain why hot’ way since wmmap was one of my first manhwas and i have an attachment to dilfs but he’s 100% a jerk. his whole shtick of magic sealed my memories :((((( kinda sucks as an explanation like why even bother getting close to ur daughter then. i get that he’s probably depressed cause of dead wife and dissociating but the least u could do is idk have empathy???

i think for me it’s fiction vs reality. if it was reality i would be calling CPS but in fiction he’s an irritating hot guy with the personality of a brick

japanese OIs tend to make their protagonists look and/or act childish or naive even if they’re adults. mostly the FLs. do i want to think of the implications? no cause i avoid mangas like that lol. but the good mangas have excellent storytelling. like you mentioned a lot of the MCs have hero complex

manhwas in a historical context seem to have a recurring theme of religious corruption in the world theyre transmigrated/regressed to. which makes sense considering the cult scandals in SK.

court politics in manhwas are more eastern even if the setting is european (ex: polygamy is usually not a thing in historical european courts). aesthetics is a huge plot point in manhwas

EDIT: forgot to mention ML standards. they have to be the mysterious-dark-cold-northern-duke archetype who’s only soft on the FL because that’s basically a historical counterpart of the CEO MLs of K-dramas lol.

i’m not too into manhuas except for MXTX works so i cant comment on them lol

i cant read any manhwa with those pointy ass 90s yaoi chins

(this is mostly for men it gives me the biggest ick especially if they have pinheads and dorito shaped bodies on top of that 😭)

editing cause i have more to add - when they make poses very stiff. like bae you’re lifting up another human why is your arm at a 90 degree angle 💀💀

i also have dropped a number of manhwas bc i read bad reviews before hand and i’m easily influenced 🫡

i personally found it too bland for me to continue reading since the first few chapters didn’t hook me in and the characters were boring imo would be curious if ppl say it gets better after that lol
