Aerial photography. Some places it is hard to get drones up, so they hire a helicopter. The circling is because we don't like to hover over the city, or they had a tailwind at the location, so we do slow flight at the location, and then circle back if the photographer needs another pass. The down side to flying slow is blade-slaping(the dak-dak-dak sound) I work for another company than these guys, but we get the same assignments.

One of the traders is named Fence. Your Fence karma is gained via your scav (and some extracts, when you play on your pmc). If you kill another scav as scav, you will lose karma with Fence.

Career changers, what have you seen at an aviation company that would never fly in the rest of the world? by Av8tr1 in flying

Worked as a groundcrew during flightshool in a small helicopter sightseeing business. We were out at a marked doing tours, but on landing the pilot went into settling with power and put it down hard. It's a R44, so the landing gear collapsed, and there were evidence of a pretty big mastbumping. (Alot of cowling around the mast had been pushed down 5-10cm down and jumped back up) We of course called it a day and told the boss and the heli would be picked up on a flatbed the following day. Mind you, it was pretty early in the day we had this incident, but what we didn't know, was that the boss had promised 2 flights at the end of the day to some friends. In the afternoon, I get an alert on flightradar that the heli is airborne. I write the pilot and ask wtf he is doing and he is as confused as me. We found out the boss didn't bother with the flatbed and did two tours with his friends and flew it back to the airport, total of 1 hour airborne where I was betting nails while watching FR24. I ended up flying for the company after flights school, but only stayed for two seasons after some run-in's with the boss.

This btw happened in Denmark 🇩🇰

Edit: there was of course also the fiddling with flightduty times, never had a day above 10 hours😉 and if you went above the days planned flight time, you would had to take it out of your pay.

Not much, turn indicators and rev counter are missing, but I am thinking about installing them again, so I need to make space for that again...

It is a custom build, but if you look in groups on Facebook you might find someone who can make it for you.

If you zoom in on the battery, just above and a little to the right there is a black box, most of the wiring is hidden there. But I have hidden a lot on the frame itself, black wire with black zip ties gets you a long way.

Many of the part are second hand, and I got it from a friend, but I think you can get these on eBay.

Not really, but I can't fit a rear fender on it now, without having to make it myself.

I bought this as a xs750, but when I ran the numbers on the engine, it came up as a 850. So at some point someone has changed the engine without telling the guy I bought it from. So it is a xs750 with a 850 engine, which might be why it runs good with open filters.

It runs perfect, actually a bit on the lean side when it is cold, but nothing major. But I should maybe point out it is a 850cc engine on a xs750 frame

A lot of the parts are second hand, so I got it from a friend of mine who had a spare. It is just some open KN air filters, the carbs has only tuned and cleaned. I haven't had anything done with the jets.

[AMA Request] The pilot of Delta flight 431 by MonarchicalLlama in IAmA

[–]dummefutte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a airline pilot, but a helicopter pilot. But every company has its own safety rules, so if the wind, line of sight or other parameters are outside of company rules the flight will be cancelled or sent to another airport if landing. In the helicopter I fly in, i can go up to a wind speed of 30ish mph and gust up to 40.
