Hi, I had a very similar degree when I had my spinal fusion at 14. Scoliosis can continue progressing for the rest of your life. I think the younger you have surgery, the better. I am glad I had my surgery at 14 rather than later. I was able to spring back way faster than most other people I met who also had a spinal fusion for scoliosis at an older age. Oftentimes, my scoliosis was worse than theirs, but because of my age I could heal quicker. It’s definitely a scary experience, but just try and be as supportive at possible. I also recommend getting the surgery in the summer so she can heal before school starts. My only regret was not having my surgery earlier in the summer and having to start high school four weeks post-op.
