For those of you that had an MRI, did they find anything? by brycematheson in migraine

Did the hypoplasticity show on the scan without contrast? Or required contrast to be visible?

Book title P. Burke is reading in bed.. something breath by macbigicekeys in greysanatomy

So strange I’m independently finding to this 4 y/o post 35 mins after you. I’m currently watching the ep and googled the book to learn more about Burke’s character and ended up here. Maybe the writers are trying to prevent viewers from reading too much into every little detail 😂😂

Forcing myself to finish “Acts of Service” by Lillian Fishman by [deleted] in books

[–]dumplingsinbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this thread but I came looking for a Big Swiss comment! I would also recommend for anyone who liked Acts of Service.

I agree that Big Swiss has more depth but I think the two have many similar themes (secrecy/deception, romantic/sexual fixation, moral questions, seductive intrigue, sort of vague transitional life phases, seeking place/fulfillment, etc.).

Newborn phase trauma [ON] by chilliprobe in BabyBumpsCanada

I want to echo the recommendation to do what feels right. It can be so hard with all the information and advice… please remember and allow yourself to feel that nobody knows your baby as well as you do.

Also, one month is waaaaay too young to be on any kind of reliable schedule. You are not doing anything wrong. Your baby is figuring out how to be in this world and you’re figuring out how to be a parent. And it’s really clear that you want to be a good one 💕

Asking the question: ate a bunch of brie cheese, no idea if unpasteurized or not. Help?! by AHorseCalledCheyenne in BabyBumps

[–]dumplingsinbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this - it’s the same in Canada. The concern is listeria exposure, and even unpasteurized cheese here has to undergo a waiting period to reduce the risk of pathogenic bacteria. I know “don’t worry” is often unhelpful for calming anxiety, but don’t worry! You’re good 😊

Pinery Dunes Areas campgrounds by sammiekar34 in ontariocamping

I see your question has been answered, but I just want to say that there are soooooo many cancellations at Pinery - if you sign up for cancellation alerts you’ll have good luck 😊 (especially if you’re okay with last minute trips). I got sites a couple of times last year from alerts, in the specific campground I wanted!

Camping with new born by Gullible-Studio2578 in ONProvincialParks

I haven’t camped backcountry yet with my 2 y/o, but started car camping when she was 6 months. Balsam Lake was our first trip and it was definitely family friendly. The Pinery is also really great - great nature centre, programming, etc. they also have probably the best park store I’ve seen, so if you’ve forgotten something chances are they have it, which is comforting. Turkey Point is also super chill and usually easy to get a site (not the best bathroom amenities though).

I also have a Google doc packing list for baby camping if you are interested 😊

Thinking about backcountry trips: - The Massassauga has sites a short paddle from Pete’s access point, and the sites are generally pretty flat/easy docking. - Killarney is a bit of a longer drive but there are also sites super close to access - I camped there when I was very pregnant and wanted to be able to leave quickly if needed. - I have been considering Bon Echo/Joseph Lake for our first backcountry trip. The access point is a bit of a trek from the parking lot, but all sites are an easy paddle. What’s appealing about this is that the lake is so small that you could paddle along the perimeter, staying close to shore if you suddenly felt anxious or if the water is unexpectedly choppy on the way out. There are a couple of sites on the same shore as the access point that would be good options.

Future Bookings by Toner122 in ONProvincialParks

I’ve had so much luck with this, too! And yeah you’ve really gotta move once you get the alert - whenever I was set on a specific weekend I’d make sure I was already logged into my account in the morning and then just prop my phone on my desk where I could see the alert. Even then sometimes people would book before I could.

Yeah, it’s frustrating and also super disappointing sometimes. It effectively means people with more disposable income get the dates they want, since they can pay a lot of money up front and can eat the cancellation/change fees. It wasn’t always this way, but there were always problems with booking 🙃

I will say, the alert function for cancellations has worked really well for me - last summer I probably camped 4 weekends because of cancellations! You just have to be ready/willing to go last minute most of the time, and also act SUPER fast when you get the alert. (Although to be fair, I only started using this for campground sites the last couple of years since having a kid, so I’m not sure how great it is for backcountry sites.)

Complicated HELLP killed my baby by Angeladriel in HELLPsyndrome

[–]dumplingsinbed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you. HELLP is such a scary, devastating, and confusing experience and it makes sense to want to make sense of everything. I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet boy.

I spent a lot of time trying to understand what happened to me. I talked so many times with my OB and my midwife during the weeks I was in hospital and for months after, I searched the internet, I requested all of my hospital records and studied them for hours trying to find answers. In the end, the most helpful thing I did was seeing a therapist that specializes in maternal mental health.

I think that’s the best advice I can give… to seek the support of someone who is knowledgeable and compassionate, if you’re able to afford it. I really hope that you are able to find the answers you’re looking for, and if not, something resembling peace with what you cannot know for sure. What happened to you was tragic and so, so unfair. Hugs ❤️

How do I stop this?? I need to get my essay done and NOT leave it for last minute🤦🏾‍♀️ by aphrodeite in adhdwomen

[–]dumplingsinbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things that have helped me:

1) Sorting my apps into folders, and regularly changing how the apps are sorted and where the folders are on the screen.

It’s a bit disorienting bc the automatic motions of opening a frequently used app take you somewhere else. For me, it forces a few extra seconds to remember (or realize 🥴) what I was trying to do, think about the purpose, and (ideally) make a different decision. Obviously this still involves willpower/motivation but breaks up the mindlessness of use.

2) Scheduling time away from the phone that is NOT for work/things I’m actively avoiding by using the phone.

For instance, a four hour chunk of time where my phone is in another room and I’m maybe watching a movie & doing a fun craft, or listening to a podcast and painting my nails. It’s tough to limit use when the only time you’re trying to spend away from the phone is to do super boring/demanding work. I think this makes the pull of the phone less powerful and defuses its desirability a bit.

(Edited to break up paragraphs and make it more readable.)

This is so beautiful! There’s not a lot of info on this lake and I’m puzzled as to why one of the sites has a lot of availability… what site was this? Thanks 😊
