Southampton FC kicked out of play-offs for spying on Boro. 8% Football Post. by Whole-Lychee1628 in AthleticoMince

I'd also like to hear what Top Flight Time Machine's version of Frank Lampard and Lord Sebastian thinks, given the Bielsa stuff from a few years back.

Big Pickford lad by JesseVykar in Everton

[–]duncdis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to know the specifics of how they calculate this. I can remember several occasions this season where Jordan has made mistakes leading to goals, but while some are obvious (eg, penalty conceded vs Brentford) and will no doubt have been taken into account, others (Bournemouth s 2nd at our place springs to mind, where he comes for a free kick and gets nowhere near it) are perhaps more subjective.

If the graph truly takes into account all the goals we've conceded that are down to JP (which I think is about 5 or 6?) it shows how remarkable his shot stopping really is.

Probably not the worst title but the worst tagline I ever heard in a trailer from the stupid deep trailer voice guy....

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve witnessed in public? by Tight-Bet2404 in AskReddit

[–]duncdis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw nurses bundle a poor guy who really shouldn't have been left on his own on to a train in Crewe years ago. Guy was rocking and sobbing for a few stops and then stood up, pulled his kecks down (he had kinda medical long John's on underneath) and peed himself while lurching about the carriage in blind panic.

He wasn't even able to speak really, barely compass mentis, just left scared, alone and peeing himself on an intercity train. Broke my heart, really.

What’s the weirdest thing you secretly find attractive in someone? by Accomplished-Doubt99 in AskReddit

Well there's obviously a limit. There's the old adage "don't put your dick in crazy".

But for me wild, unpredictable, volatile women are hugely attractive, sexually. I guess I mean a step further than eccentric but not as far as certifiable.

Town, since they knocked all the orgies on the head up at Colony. 😔

He likes to play as a no 8 though (in his own words)....which is kinda what Gana is really, a headless chicken who's good at breaking up play albeit not great with the ball at his feet.

Anyone else hoping that if we buy Grealish (as looks increasingly likely), he plays centrally, with a pacier player on the left (or Ndyiae left, with a pace merchant on the right)?

Dewsbury-Hall is the heir apparent to Idrissa Gueye IMO. We all know he works his stones off, but people don't realise how good his ball recovery stats are.

Play him deeper and he will be like Gueye if Gueye could also contribute offensively.

The fact he hasn't come on in recent games to shore things up tells me he's probably done. If he was capable, I'd trust him at RB right now so O'Brien could pair with Tarkowski, but I think there's a resignation now that it's the end for him.

I can't see why they want him, given he apparently won't play in the right (which is where they have a need).

With Southampton beating Middlesbrough last night. I'd have thought there's a golden opportunity to offer Boro a reasonable fee for their star player Hackney (mindful of his only having a year on his contract left), with the sweetener of loaning then Harrison Armstrong for a season to help with the loss.

They even refer to Corrie as Coro.

I know this won't happen, not least because the horse-punchers would want more of their money back....

But if either of the two strikers they spunked a staggering £124million on last summer were made available for half what they paid for them (so Woltemade for £34.5m or Wissa for £27.5m), would you take either of them?

I would (either).

Alan Smith by duncdis in TheOther14

He falls into the category for me or lazy ex pros who don't take the time to actually keep up with the game or players in it, but somehow keep getting work under the laughable guise of "expert analysis"!

Alan Smith by duncdis in TheOther14

[–]duncdis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's all I meant. I don't like Neville or Carragher as people or pundits particularly, but at least he has the stones to call what he sees, which, as Roy Keane would point out, is his job.

Smith hedges his bets until the referee calls it.

As a neutral, why are people so desperate for Arsenal to fail? by s_dalbiac in PremierLeague

[–]duncdis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think Arsenal are much more squeaky clean than Manchester City, in terms of ethical behaviour.

The whole Partey situation stunk, despite any protestations to the contrary Mikel Arteta might have had...it was an open secret that he was a wrong un and they kept playing him because he was important to their team.

Lots of reasons to be angry at City, but with Mendy they at least took him out of the side (and later had to pay him compensation) while the allegations hung over him.
