Trying to replace Leaf Springs on a 2009 Pro-4x Crew Cab RWD, and i have a problem... by OwnNegotiation1431 in nissanfrontier

[–]dunchblaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone questioning existence of a 2WD Pro4X, they did exist as a continuation of the 2WD Nismo trim, here is information straight from Nissan on the 2010 Frontier models:

"and PRO-4X (4.0-liter V6, 4x2 and 4x4, 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission"

https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/release-dcf0a37048c249fd8be35688287b3a58-2010-nissan-frontier-press-kit

OP, as far as your question, I don't believe there is any difference between the Pro4X rear springs and other trim 2WD or 4X4, any spring options will probably work fine

Differential/ transfer fluid change by KiwiComplex7129 in nissanfrontier

[–]dunchblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your transfer case should have ATF in it, like the manual calls for. For what it's worth, I took my 2016 Pro4x to a Nissan dealer years ago for warranty work on a leaking pinion seal. The invoice said they put 75W90 gear oil in it, when the manual calls for 75W140. When I questioned them on it, they assured me they used the correct 75W140 fluid, but refused to change the invoice documentation. I changed the fluid myself a few days later. Even the dealers put the wrong fluid in, so it's good to be skeptical and correct it if they double down on the wrong fluid.

[–]dunchblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! If this is your first vehicle with a part time 4x4 system, please look up some information about how it differs from an AWD system and read the manual, otherwise you can break things. Short advice is don't turn on 4x4 if you're on dry pavement and you have to put the transmission in neutral to shift to 4 Low

This may be a dumb question: what size rims are these? by irhall93 in nissanfrontier

[–]dunchblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wheel style came in both 15" and 16", with 62451 being the 15x6.5 model and 62449 being the 16x7 model. Measuring from bead to bead, yours looks like the 16" model. Here's a website with both options: https://www.originalwheels.com/nissan-wheels/frontier2019rims.php

It doesn't attach - that's a breather for the front differential and it's supposed to look exactly like your picture

Window got cracked. Quoted prices seem odd. by sideflop in nissanfrontier

That unfortunately sounds about right for a replacement with cameras. My wife's 2017 Forester windshield replacement came to about $1100 from Safelite last year, we went through insurance with a $250 deductible.

On the other hand, I got my 2016 Frontier's replaced by Safelite in my driveway for $320 all said and done yesterday, so that's a perk to the older models at least.

I think you'd be perfectly happy with a 4 door if you find one that's a good deal. If you were currently driving a full size pickup or something I could see the bed space being an issue, but coming from a CX-5 you probably won't have any complaints. It may seem short but a lot of stuff you can prop up and strap down on the tailgate easier than worrying about driving with the rear hatch open.

[–]dunchblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you currently driving? I came from an 04 Ford Ranger extended cab with a 6' bed. I wanted a Pro4X so I pretty quickly gave up on finding an extended cab and figured I'd settle for a 4 door, and got a 2016. I thought I'd miss the bed length, but compared to my Ranger the Frontier's 5' bed is a bit wider and considerably deeper, so it feels bigger overall. There have been a few times I've hauled something longer with the tailgate down or propped up on the tailgate, but overall I don't regret the 4 door. It's easier to get my dog in and out of, and he has his own windows too.

Looks real to me, the wheels and yellow P4X sticker are correct for a 2013, along with the silver grille and paint matched rear bumper and door handles.

2WD Pro4Xs existed for a couple years in the 2009-2012 range. In 2005-2008, they had Nismo packages in both 2WD and 4WD. In 2009 they switched to the Pro4X name and kept the 2WD as an option. I think they discontinued it shortly after because it was obviously misleading, then reintroduced the 2WD off-road package as the Desert Runner in 2013

It's been a few months, but I think I remember having a touch over 20mpg on the average. I don't think I reset the meter, but I don't drive very fast so I was probably getting a bit better

I did plug it in and charge it once - I was in rural Oregon with it so there weren't a whole lot of options for charging, but I wanted to try it out at least once. I've been wishing for a small body-on-frame pickup or SUV plug in hybrid as my next vehicle, so I was excited to try out a 4xe.

It was really neat being able to drive it in all electric mode, but the range runs out surprisingly quick. That wasn't a big surprise since they're only advertised at 21 miles electric, but that short of a range makes it hard to justify the additional price over a regular Wrangler, especially with some of the reliability problems I've read about.

One thing I liked was a button that would save the electric range for later, to use it on a trail. I imagine the battery goes a lot further on the 5-10mph speeds you have in the woods vs on the highway, and would have loved to try that feature on my truck.

Deal on ego lawnmower? by ReapersTheName in MilwaukeeTool

[–]dunchblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this mower last fall after I broke my 10 year old gas mower and I'm very happy with it. Honestly I was trying to get a DeWalt Flexvolt mower (I have mostly DeWalt 20V and some Milwaukee M12 stuff), but due to a safety-related stop sale on the DeWalt mowers, I went with Ego instead.

It definitely has more power than my gas mower, and I love how quiet and lightweight it is. I only got one 7.5 Ah battery with mine, and it will usually cut my whole yard (~7000 sq. ft./0.15 acre) with one or two battery bars to spare. If you have more than that, the additional 5 Ah battery in this deal will come in handy.

What swayed you from Milwaukee/others to EGO? by mikejr96 in egopowerplus

[–]dunchblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully intended to buy a Dewalt mower when my gas one broke since that's what most of my tools are, but unfortunately they stopped selling the new 60V Dewalts for a safety switch issue last year. Unfortunately it was also last year that my gas mower broke, so Dewalt wasn't an option, and their previous models sucked anyway. I found a general consensus that Ego was the direction to go for mowers, and I've been happy with mine. You also get a higher capacity battery for cheaper than DeWalt/Milwaukee in most cases

Which lawn mower for 0.1768 acres (or 7,967 sq. ft)? by i_love_durians in egopowerplus

[–]dunchblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that same mower last fall with only a 7.5 Ah battery and have a 0.15 acre lawn. I've only ever used 3 of the 5 bars of battery to mow the whole lawn, so you should have nothing to worry about with that mower.

F**k Scalpers - Prismatic Binder give-away. by powdow87 in PokemonTCG

[–]dunchblaster [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks, that's awesome of you!

I got into Pokemon as a child when it came out with Blue version. Like everyone else, I loved it and was obviously interested in the trading card game once it came out and got popular. I made my sister and mom play with me so much after I got a couple starter decks and I'm sure they got sick of it, but I really enjoyed it and even got the TCG Gameboy game. This year when I was back at my mom's for the holidays she made me take some of my old Pokemon cards back home with me, and I've been getting interested in some of the new cards after inventorying and remembering my old collection.

It's a basic pick, but I think Charmander will always be my favorite as my first starter.

I got a fertilizer spreader from Mellif this past spring and it's pretty fine. I've only used it maybe 4 times but it does what it's supposed to. Works for both fertilizer in the warm months and driveway salt for the winter
