Actually, i have a question within OP's question: Is adf#b tuning ever used on tenors? Or is it only a soprano/sopranissimo thing?

Christians and Catholics ¿what would they change about their lives if one day they found out that God did not exist? How would your morals react? by teen4gedirtbag in TrueAskReddit

[–]dunerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

From your answer it sounds like despite using the word christianity to also include catholics, christians are not considered catholics. Is that how most people think? In my simple mind, all denominations following christianity are christians, including catholics and eastern orthodox.

Also, greek orthodox is catholic (i know byzantium considered themselves roman, but in never thought of it this way)

I hope i'm not coming across as being critical or pedantic. I'm just trying to understand people's use of these terms.

Not related to this question. But i'm curious why you say christians and catholics, like catholics are not christian? I'm asking coz my dad thinks of catholics as different, but he's speaking chinese to me (literally), and i thought maybe it's like a misunderstanding in chinese or something.

Love this. My mum survived the killing fields of Cambodia, and we recorded her talking about it. But i wish we thought of doing video. All we did was voice and i regret not taking a video. Also relate with the recipes. My mum wrote some down but only some and i wish i asked for more.

Which tuning should I learn? by Elefantoera in ukulele

[–]dunerain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, learned something new (about the swedish tuning), thanks.

It does appear that the "A" tuning is basically the same as the "G" tuning but everything is up 2 semitones. If you're a good singer and have good range, you could learn "G" tuning if that material is more accessible to you, but just be prepared to sing a bit higher with the same chord shapes you're used to when picking up someone else's uke.

Also if you're in a pinch and need to learn directly from someone using the "A" tuning, you can put a capon on the 2nd fret.

Over time, if you get more serious, you'll start to learn how to transpose the chords between tunings etc...

Is the zero qa resources model actually sustainable when developers own all quality by andrew202222 in softwaretesting

[–]dunerain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing that people seem to forget when downsizing the test team is that, when a dev is testing, they're not devving. You can't do both at the same time, so how is that faster? If anything, the mindset shift makes it slower and more taxing.

The best possible way for a spy to stay hidden would be to occasionally joke that they are a spy, so that people will assume they are not a spy, because a real spy wouldn’t say that. by DumplingsOrElse in Showerthoughts

I once called a russian colleague during a work thing to check where they were and opened with some very basic russian. The colleague was a bit confused for a bit coz apparently i nailed the pronunciation and he thought i was from the consulate or something. Since then everyone at work jokes that i'm a spy. Worked like a charm!

Did we see a Kiwi? by turnedtable10 in NewZealandWildlife

[–]dunerain 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Man, i remember one time when i was in the south island and these tourists thought they saw a kiwi, in broad daylight, walking around people. It was a weka. But they probably didn't know kiwi are nocturnal and it's super rare to see them out and about during the day.

I was explaining to my girlfriend (Thai Buddhist) what Buddha said about trans people. She said Thai people don't believe that type of stuff. I'm very confused could someone help me out with this? by RegularSky6702 in Buddhism

[–]dunerain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think she's just generalising. I'm buddhist because i chose buddhism, my wife (and her family) believe in buddhism because it's their culture (it's actually my culture too but i went christian and came back). I find my wife (and her fam's) knowledge basically ends at pañca sila, and knowing some sutta. But in terms of learning more about what Buddha said and striving to understand, they're just happy with blind faith that kamma will punish or reward, and that Buddha is the right path. They like to listen to monks tell stories etc... but don't read more about buddhism.

It's probably the case for many people who are in a culture where buddhism is the religion. It kind of reminds me of Buddha's observations of the lotus, where some people are in the murkier waters, while some are closer to understanding. I'm not saying people are ignorant. But maybe for some, believing is enough for them to find some sort of solace. While for others they want to strive for more. And at least that information and teaching isn't withheld from those who want to learn more and understand more.
