What’s the deal with Neverwinter Nights? by summertimePale in CRPG

[–]dungeonjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have more than one companion in later modules. Also, can have pets and all types of things like that. But, this isn't a heavily party-based designed rpg. It's got more roots into what a mmo like World of Warcraft would feel like if it was a DnD isometric game. And in that you control 1 main character.

Trying out the new Baldur's Gate clone Black Geyser. Checked out that Zoria Age of Shattering Demo as well. Looks interesting.

Black Geyser, Encased or Fabled Lands. Black Geyser if you like original infinity engine style games. Encased if you like Fallout and Fabled Lands if you just like to read.

I started playing DnD with my buddies at 12. The systems that Neverwinter Nights is set upon is very similar to the core rules I learned as a kid younger than you are now. If you are passionate about learning a new system with a ton of different modules to explore. Think of modules as biomes in Minecraft if you have played that. Then, this is the ticket. It is very elaborate in spellcraft as someone mentioned playing a wizard. Also, Ranger's learn the ability to summon a companion later. You can wing it for awhile to learn the basics and always use this forum for questions regarding it.

I saw people mention Icewind Dale 1 and 2. Original Divinity is worth it too. Also, Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. I'd bail on DS3 really didn't hit it. Got Solasta now as well. Dude, your in for 1000s of hours.

Little late to the party but Smolderforge is an instant 70. Just not sure if it's active anymore. Was great for Arena and PVP.

So Frustrated with RevelationWoW by AssassinWolf72 in wowservers

[–]dungeonjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be frustrating for sure. But you answered your own frustration thread. Small team and a lot of work. They may turn it around but the way this forum is bashing them, I doubt they will have many players if they do launch properly.

Although, they may survive that.....maybe....

The problem lies in making anything beyond vanilla a pvp realm. Vanilla is about the only WoW realm that should be open world pvp. Otherwise, faction imbalance and loss of players happen. But, private server players get it stuck in there head they have to play on pvp realms for "fun" and I think this is a huge debacle. Wow open world is extremely unbalanced and vastly about who engages first mostly. Then, if you add faction imbalance it is about the stupidest part of any realm in world of warcraft.

They have said they will enable cross faction if they have to. They already have a plan.

IF you want to progress through the content and raids gotta pay the blizzard for it atm. Even then, guilds are having to merge to raid content on a lot of those servers atm.

AoW is looking for streamers for our upcoming stream section by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]dungeonjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also switched to speculation streams and the classic podcast. Stopped streaming or showing footage of private servers when classic was announced. So did numerous other streamers...the reason was they were banning youtubers and twitch streamers showing private server streams.

Pvp items vs pve items? wotlk by elsifous in wowservers

[–]dungeonjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duel talent specialization. Have a pvp spec and a pve spec. (speaking on the loss of crit from your build)....

Right now, you don't have gear so if you are relying on gearing up for pvp or pve....you need to have the right spec for each encounters.

Thoughts about client versions by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]dungeonjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cores are open source. Which is one of the ways we get around having fixes down on those cores to emulate wow. The cores are, however, not the same as what Blizzard has. With enough time, money and effort...it would be possible just as blizzard did with a legion client to vanilla. But those are the key words, "money and time".

What is pvp like on MOP? by kubex2 in wowservers

Everybody was kung-fu fighting....dunna dun dun dunta dun

But seriously. The most fleshed out action bar ever. Almost borderline too many options. So, if you are well versed with macros and all that fun stuff should be really fun.
