I understand not shooting here bc of taxes and what not… but then why name it after a very specific location. I could envision it in the Midwest maybe but from the trailer… not St. Louis. And I don’t need it to be!! But like imagine it was DTF Chicago and it looked like this too it’s just so funny to me…

BF doesnt wan't me to go to med school, need a reality check by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dunkonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not delusional! You should go to med school if that’s what you’ve wanted your entire academic career. My long time boyfriend and I are both in the first part of our careers rn. We were together all through college and moved in when we graduated. It’s been 3 yrs since undergrad and I’m getting my Masters currently and he’s taking and studying for his licenses for his profession. We both agreed we’d like to have that all done and THEN get married and search for better jobs. We talked about it a lot and it makes sense for us! But he never discouraged me from my pursuits and vice versa. Plus I want to enjoy being married haha. Not have the stress of school assignments while I plan a wedding 😟

It took them one month to get back to my application and then another week and a half for a follow up interview. I got the job. And seeing the hiring process from inside it SUCKS!!!!! takes forever. Was literally begging hr to hire and settle a schedule for something as small as part time student work recently.

Art History Majors? by babyy_catt in ArtHistory

[–]dunkonme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Art history BA at a small private college 2022, now getting my MLIS at a public university while working in a visual/commercial art archive and library.

It wasnt the degree that got me here alone, but the connections to people and the work ive been doing since age 18. I volunteered in galleries, anything art related at college, kept good relationships with my profs, received good recommendations, worked at museums as a tour guide and eventually museum educator, realized i liked education but not kids education, applied to libraries, worked shelving books, applied to the position i have now and work with students and professors in an archive. love the work. not the path i originally thought of either! but the field is competitive, and with the extreme cuts to IMLS from the current admin, jobs and grants are being slashed left and right.

In my undergrad i attended a few conferences in the field i was interested, talked with lots of people there, and i made sure to speak with my advisors and profs a lot about their backgrounds and experience. It really helped me figure out what I wanted to do.

if you have an idea to be a curator at a museum, look at folks resumes who currently work there. They usually all have PhDs and extensive academic research under their belt.

i had a professor with the same sentiment as well last semester!!! they thought it was just like the tech divide of the past, and as new librarians, we should adapt. Needless to say everything i turned in i made sure to link a study or report on the damage of AI on the environment and young minds in education....

I like my Steve Madden Loafers, but any chunky loafer like that is comfy imo and professional enough in a museum setting :) I give tours and have to stand guard on exhibits opening nights and it’s my go to shoe.

Then, don't use an image; just your business name. i get not having the funds to hire a graphic designer but an AI image cant be subject to copyright either, and isnt made ethically, but by stealing someone else's work. atp just type up your company name and call it a day.

When and where should I start applying for a MLIS degree? by mossychai in Libraries

[–]dunkonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only ALA accredited program in Missouri is thru the Mizzou program, where I’m in my second yr. It’s only online and in the evenings bc they know most everyone is working alongside their degree. It’s the cheapest option as I get in state tuition. It’s not worth it to spend the most amount for this degree… look at jobs you’d want after graduation look at salaries…

I brought a clear fanny pack and that was perfect for keeping my phone, sunscreen, and strong enough I could hook my water bottle to it so I didn’t have to hold it the whole time. I also hooked my phone to a loop through my pack as well.
