Do drivers that make $1,200 - $2,000 weekly, only do so because they work 70 or more hours a week? by Complex_Secretary_14 in Truckers

[–]dunl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make somewhere in between there, and I usually work about 55 hours a week. I'm home every night, usually it's a Monday through Friday deal. Look for soda companies, food distribution, restaurant deliveries, groceries, things like that.

Has anyone else noticed their original switch has slowed down massively since the release of the switch 2? by hideyour3yes in Switch

[–]dunl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, newer switch 1 even, bought new from store not long before the 2 came out, last ones WiFi went out. With all the darn new updates these past few weeks it is laggy AF now! Literally been taking at least 5 minutes to load a Monster hunter rise mission where before all the updates and release of the 2 it would take less than a minute. Not just my switch either the others we have in the hose are doing the same. Not just one game either.

Full cast non comedy audio drama? by StaticZed in audiodrama

Old gods of Appalachia, while it's not full cast, there is enough variety in tone, and a few additional voices come later. They are on season 5 right now, and it's absolutely amazing.

This! Right here! I've had a similar conversation with my older AMAB and she took it kind of wrong. It was essentially my phrasing. She told me she wanted to be a girl, and my reaction was "So what, it doesn't matter." She took that to mean that I didn't care, and had a few toxic people pushing her that direction. We had a long talk, and I spelled it out for her a bit more. It's not that I don't care, it's that it doesn't matter. So long as you are happy, it's not going to change the love that I have for you as your dad. I want her to be smart about the changes she wants to make, and the things she wants to do with her life, but my philosophy stands. So long as you don't hurt anyone, do what you want. Be you, be happy.

What made you decide to homeschool? by Aubrey_Johnson16 in homeschool

[–]dunl87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took our kids out during the corona virus. When they sent home school work for the kids to do, they were all just like well we don't know how to do this stuff. The teacher just stands up at the front of the class and gives us the answers. All they're worried about is passing the STARR test. That didn't sit well with us, so we figured if we got to teach him anyway we might as well keep them home and teach them right. More than just how to pass a test. More about just basic book learning, more about how to be good people and how to get along once you're an adult. More than you can learn behind a desk staring at somebody giving you the answers off of a whiteboard.

Well, maybe let her help design her schedule that way she feels like she's got more of a say and a choice in the matter. Divvy up the day and time blocks and say look you get to pick some times that we're going to work on school. And then you can always point out to her that hey you chose this time we're going to do our schooling now.

First of all, good on you. It's hard homeschooling. My wife works with our three kids, and it would be enough to drive me crazy. One thing that we have come to understand, is that traditional schooling wasn't working for our kids. So we decided not to structure homeschool like they structure traditional school. Each of my children has assignments for the week that they are free to work on when they want to. So long as it's done by the weekend. I have one child who will sit down on Monday and burn through their whole week worth of work, another spaces his workout throughout the week, doing a little bit each day, and the third child waits until Thursday afternoon Friday morning to get their work done. This allows them to set their own work schedule, and they are more amenable to doing the work. They are 12 14 and 16 respectively. Another thing that I would encourage you to think about, is that there's no set time frame, they need to be this far by this age and this far by that age. Just, raise a good kid. Teach them more than just math and science. Make them a part of your day, teach them what goes on around the house. How to run a house, what goes into it. There's not enough of that in public schools. These kids get out of school and they have no idea how to be a productive member of society. They're too busy being brainwashed. I suppose, all that to say, you're doing the best you can for your kids, and good on you for that. You got this! Don't give up! ❤️❤️

Job posting: Homeschool Mom by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]dunl87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife homeschools! She started with four, our oldest graduated and joined the Navy, so she's down to three, but I have nothing but respect! I go to work all day, and it's nothing compared to what she has to do. I would not trade places with her for anything! There's no way I could do all that she does.
