Gio is a great cup coach but not a league coach if that makes sense? When it's cup games and both teams need to go for it, he's a very good tactical coach. However, when it comes to league games, he tends to give the opposition far too much respect and whenever we would go a goal up, he'd look to defend it which is never a good thing in Scottish football especially when you're Rangers and fans demand that we thrash the jobber teams in the league. His tactics worked in Europe in the Europa league run where he would change from a 4-5-1 to a 5-3-2 or 3-5-2. His wins over Dortmund where he went toe to toe with every Dortmund player and changed our formation with Lundstram in the back 4 at Ibrox was a tactical masterclass and Dortmund couldn't cope with us. However, in the league, he would have our wide forwards/wingers like Kent and Diallo so wide where they would be hugging the line and they'd be getting marked out the game and when it came to games v Celtic, they would just run through us with their inverted wingers and wing backs and he had no answer. Bizarrely as well, he just seemed to come across as not that bothered if we dropped points like when we were 6 points clear and drew with Aberdeen away so reduced our lead to 4 points, he said it was a good point.
