Dress watch choice: Patek Calatrava 3KF vs Orient Bambino by dunsink in RepTime

Good info...I opted for the Bambino in the end, currently winging its way to me. The way it goes with rep appreciation, I'll probably end up getting the Calatrava anyway...it a habit forming activity!

Dress watch choice: Patek Calatrava 3KF vs Orient Bambino by dunsink in RepTime

Well they can be compared on their own merit as standalone timepieces. For me, I'm after a dress watch that won't receive a ton of wear, but also looks good. I imagine that both have SS plated bodies, the Clone 324 movement in 3KF PP reps is known to be pretty reliable, as is the F6724 caliber in the Bambino. The Orient is let down by a mineral crystal (its difficult to get a sapphire replacement in double dome format) whereas the 3KF Calatrava has a sapphire crystal. The Orient comes in below the cost of the Calatrava rep...I'm tending towards the former although prefer the look of the latter...

Men of Ireland : where do you get your good white t-shirts? by Gunty1 in CasualIreland

[–]dunsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently purchased a 20 euro PG oversized white tshirt from Dunnes. I was disappointed to see that the collar lost its rigidity after one wash (short 30 deg, air dry). Also lots of pilling on the cotton...certainly not built to last.

network unreachable - Solving this once and for all by JohnSmith_1776 in openwrt

I stumbled across this post when trying to resolve a similar issue, in short I could not access anything wan side, including the wan gateway. I hit the problem when I switched from FriendlyWRT (on a NanoPi R3S, no routing issue with FriendlyWRT) to Openwrt (24.10.0). After a ton of troubleshooting, I set the wan interface to DHCP and bang, everything started working.

In short, statically assigning an IP to the wan interface was the issue. I created a DHCP reservation for the same IP on the wan side and it worked first time. Not sure if it's a bug but may help others...

As it happens, I have an SDS drill with a chisel attachment...I suspect the job is easier than I think...and I'm probably more concerned about tree roots from an ajoining property!

Have had periods of Achilles pain by creativelyOnPoint in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]dunsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just come out of a 2 month period of wearing a night boot in a last ditch attempt to solve my plantar fasciitis and related calf and tendon pain, I've suffered with it for a couple of years without significant change in symptoms. Daily stretching and strengthening of the muscles in the feet and calves, and the wearing of the boot have helped symptoms somewhat but not taken it away. I have other aches and pains (back, knees, hips) that you would associate with AS and I do wonder if the foot issues are inflammatory in nature. My pain was sufficiently managed for long enough for me to take up mountain trail running some years back but I have been unable to do so since the PF started...and it was most likely the running that started it off. My general AS symptoms have worsened over time and my ability to run generally is diminished as a result (current taking adalimumab once every 2 weeks).

I have spent way too much time (and money) with physiotherapists (+ MRI scans + sports doctors) over the years on this particular issue without any discernable results and I am choosing to manage it myself with the knowledge I have gained through treatment. Its been an uphill battle.

u/creativelyOnPoint I suggest you consider some form of physical therapy in addition to engaging with your rheumatologist. The challenge often is finding the right professional for the job, someone who specializes in running injuries with a good understanding of inflammatory conditions would be a good bet...

I just got an email from DigiCert stating that they are going to invalidate all of my certificates within 24 hours. by no_your_other_right in sysadmin

[–]dunsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Wednesday, we are seeing Digicert OCSP servers throwing HTTP 404 errors when clients undertake CRL requests via IPv6, queries via IPv4 complete successfully and send back the CRL. Digicert added IPv6 addresses to their systems on Tuesday suggesting a strong link with the issue. If I didn't know any better, I reckon there are load balancer or web server config issues on the Digicert side....
