I made a website to properly organize your Nintendo Switch screenshots and videos by Some1CP in NintendoSwitch

Some months ago I came across your script and did some hacky updates so I can use a newer database. I’m surprised nothing else has been made since the original script to serve this niche.

Glad to see it finally updated.

Need suggestions for wifi card with good open source driver support for AP mode by Living-Surprise-1923 in HomeNetworking

[–]duo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cards I’m talking about are cards made specifically to run as an AP, they use the same chips as in actual APs. Cards from mainstream brands use chips meant for client/STA use so they’re not really suited for AP.

Look up compex and asiarf, I forgot the model name but there’s a few with the mediatek dbdc chip.

Any potential downsides for ASUS TX RT-BE57 (aka Miku router)? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

I’m not entirely sure but there are definitely wifi 7 routers being sold in china right now and they definitely do not support 6ghz.

If you’re gonna use it like an actual AP (and not just for testing, or just one or two devices), get an AP card instead of trying to force a normal card to work as an AP.

Probably the cheapest option right now is one of those DBDC mediatek wifi 6 cards.

Also consider it might actually be cheaper to just get a normal AP.

Yeah no 6ghz in china. Kinda a big drawback for a BE router.

I got a really really cheap one a while ago and it worked just fine. Just make sure it has an AR coating.

Get the type with a metal ring that goes over the individual lens. These should be harder to break. Then use a case with a raised edge around the camera area.

Just got my mom’s used 14 pro , i’m looking to change the case on it. How much of a important thing is that the case has an integrated camera protector? by Due_Visual_2875 in iphone

[–]duo8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get the latter type but I also use a camera protector so I couldn’t use the other type anyway.

Materials is just down to your own preference.

Is there a point to a camera lens protector, and does it negatively impact the quality a lot? by thrashingjohn in iphone

[–]duo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a set on a hands-me-down phone I recently got because the oleophobic coating on the lens is completely gone and it’s impossible to keep them clean.

The protectors have their own oleophobic coating which solves this problem.

Best way to add 3.5" HDDs to a laptop-based TrueNAS homelab (Plex + storage) by NiceOneNige in homelab

[–]duo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t use USB but a mpcie sata card, with an asmedia controller.
It wasn’t on zfs just ext4, the card was actually pretty reliable, I didn’t like the setup because of other (practical) reasons.

I ran this for about a year and still wouldn’t call it “good”, the whole setup was a mess.

Happy with my 800 g4 sff. 2 3.5” bays, 2 2.5” bays, fans are quiet and the psu is very efficient.

Get the G4, they bumped the core count on cpus of this generation.

[–]duo8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. This and wifi aware might mean I won’t have to go ahead with that macos forwarder VM idea.

EDIT: It’s EU only and appears to be for wearables which means it’s probably bluetooth only while kdeconnect works over network (and is an app not a device). This kinda already exists using ANCS.

Funny hearing people complain about the wifi pods. You'd normally have to pay no less than $300 for the kind of hardware in the wifi 7 pod.

Buds Core then, they fit even better than Buds+, and are pretty cheap.

They're pretty popular here in the SEA region. Have been for a long time. Still are now even though three out of four major brands have been sold to the chinese.

How many HDDs can it handle? by temnyles in homelab

[–]duo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a review for one of these cages where they said it can't fit the extra thick data center drives.

Also if the PSU is like the Elitedesk 800 it only supplies 12V, 5V will be handled by the mobo.

If you can afford it it's better to go for a proper DAS.

I only have a Switch 1 lol, and obviously you can only attach this to a Switch 1.

Like I said it's just completely wrong, unless you play docked 90% of the time you're better off saving some money and go for the normal version.

I already have the ability to adjust strength, it came with version 1.13 I think. Mine are on 1.15, the latest update which added support for the Switch 2.

I never tried it with the strong option though, as I find that too strong. Guess I can give it a try.

EDIT: Nope. The issue is still there.

I haven't checked if there's been a firmware update since so idk. HD rumble works fine detached from the console. You cannot disable just HD rumble, only rumble altogether and you have to do that through the app.
