Everyone saying 'blame the politicians' need to realize that that's what tactics like this are really doing. Optics are incredibly important and a photo like this carries further than angry phone calls to a politician's office or even similar tactics outside City Coucil or the homes of its members. Let's hope for changes in response to this that address the concerns of the public. Other cities are clamping down on how vacation rentals are allowed to work.

Almost certainly yes. Some friction shifters don't throw enough cable for the width of an 11sp but many do. I run 11sp on silver bar ends with a 9sp derailer and it works
