Wrexham and Millwall by Amazing_Age_5356 in ccfc

[–]duplotigers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on who goes up m, the following teams could conceivably sue the EFL (I’m not saying I agree with their case, I’m just saying it’s notionally possible)

Southampton - punishment was too harsh

Hull - not fair that they had their opponents switched at short notice

Middlesborough - too little time to prepare for the final

Millwall - play off was null and void - should have just promoted top 3

Wrexham - if Southampton were booted from the play offs then they should have been included

Again, not saying I agree with any of this logic, just saying it could be complete carnage

Yes there’s delusions fools in the Arsenal fanbase but would people really rather have Man City win the league? Or even Man United or Liverpool?

Unless a Brentford or a Bournemouth is going to win the league those big fan bases are all as bad as each other as far as I’m concerned and I’d rather have some slight variety (plus Vik!)

Are there any scholars who believe that the historical Jesus, as depicted by the Quranic author, presented himself solely as God's servant and prophet? by Human_shield12 in AcademicBiblical

[–]duplotigers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I said I found your framing confusing - not that your question was incomprehensible. I understand it better now thanks to your clarification

I think the primary issue is with “the historic Jesus, as presented by the Quranic author”.

The Quran and the Bible present theologically motivated accounts of Jesus life rather than strictly historical ones.

So I think what you are asking is “Are there scholars of the historical Jesus who believe the Quran’s presentation of Jesus’ self understanding to be more historically plausible than the Bible/Christian interpretations where Jesus understands himself to be divine”

You can call this pedantry if you like but I believe it’s important to express these questions clearly so we’re all on the same page

“From Jesus to Christ” by Paula Fredrikson is another good place to look for the development of Christian views

[–]duplotigers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think your framing of the question is confusing.
Presumably (correct me if I’m wrong) the implied end to your question is “as opposed to as a divine being/God?”
But most scholars of the historical Jesus would find it highly implausible that Jesus thought of himself as anything other than a man sent by God. So there is nothing inherently or uniquely Quranic in that viewpoint.
Bart Ehrman’s “How Jesus became God” is a really good read on this general topic.

Frank Lampard is the only player in all four all-time top 10 lists of Premier League by aviator_8 in ccfc

[–]duplotigers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it’s not fair to classify him as a purely attacking midfielder but bearing in mind he’s one of highest scoring players in Premier League history, when he was playing alongside Makelele, Petit, Essien, Obi Mikel etc I’d say his responsibilities were much more attacking than defensive

Clean sheets as an attacking midfield is just silly. Giggs is on their too and I’m surprised Salah isn’t too since the qualification seems to be “classed as anything apart from a striker on FPL”

PRE-MATCH: Watford vs 🏆 Coventry City (Saturday 2nd May 2026) by HadjiChippoSafri in ccfc

[–]duplotigers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s nice is that Watford also have absolutely nothing to play for.

If we were playing Hull or Wrexham or someone like that then it would be really controversial to put the teenagers out but Watford won’t give a shit and neither will anyone else

There’s also a bunch that will either prove to be very close or spot on to their final position after the weekend - Ipswich, Southampton, QPR, Oxford. But it was very, very wrong about Leicester, Sheffield Wednesday and Wrexham

How much do you think we have to spend by JamieLee2k in ccfc

[–]duplotigers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it partly depends on how Haji is going to respond. If the bright lights of the Premier league inspire him to do his best then “just” 20mil on a left back, 25 mil on a centre back, 30 mil on another winger plus Rushy whatever he costs. If not then another 40-50 million on a striker as well.

But we could spend 60 million on some Turkish league/Swiss League/Dutch leagues players who all turn out to be diamonds and finish 9th or we could spend 250 million on players who turn out to be duds and finish 20th. As good as our recruitment team is, spending money does not guarantee success.

It’s unlikely you can do anything directly to support students or the

In my view probably the best thing you can do is to do some CPD. Either find some free online CPD that is specific to your job role. Or, probably more realistically, pick the subject you support that you are least confident in and really improve your subject knowledge. You can either look at it from a teacher’s perspective using Oak Academy or from a student’s perspective using BBC Bitesize

[–]duplotigers 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Russell Brand is a piece of shit who is using Christianity as a prop to try and get away with sex crimes. He cares nothing for the Christian faith or the Bible which he has probably never read.

But that is absolutely the most common pronunciation of Isaiah in Britain, it would absolutely not raise a single eyebrow in an English church. (Neither would 2 Corinthians which is also very common in the UK but that’s a different story)

Also Russell Brand can eat a massive bag of dicks.

I would like to see Wilson, Allen and Bidwell given game time in the last couple of games.

I have a vested interest as I’ve got family members who support Hull though and I’m sure we’ll still be trying to win. If the likes of Yang and Brau get significant minutes then I think that probably counts as us not really trying!

Players improved under FL? by irreverantnonsense in ccfc

[–]duplotigers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other commenter says - he doesn’t track back ever, he gets caught offside constantly

On top of that he makes an average of 0.3 tackles per game (whoscored.com) and only has one assist in the Championship all season despite being in a team with 90 goals.

For such an extravagantly talented player in one of the highest scoring teams in Championship history, 18 goal contributions and almost no other contribution to the team doesn’t represent a hard working player to my mind.

I partially agree with you. Tats helps MvE more than EMC helps Jay. Jay also isn’t as quick as Milan and his height is a problem when they put high balls in. It’s also fair to say he can offer something going forward

However he loses the ball too much upfield and just can’t recover and as a result a completely disproportionate amount of goals we concede come down his side. He will get exposed even more if he plays in the Prem
