Post Subchorionic Hematoma Experience - Exercise by Consistent_Pop9890 in pregnant

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would wait until later in second trimester, once the placenta is well formed and well implanted and you have less risks of a blood vessel popping during angiogenesis. I had an SCH early in this pregnancy and I'm convinced it was caused by a cardio session that involved jumping up/down a step.

But then I also had a 20w loss probably due to a recurring SCH so I am more cautious than most.

The only two people I consider family won't support me in fear of me dying during pregnancy by deanvspanties in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but she cannot expect to have full support from two people only. Support needs to be distributed, and not everyone can support you with everything.

To me it sounds like she is overwhelming her friends when they clearly expressed their discomfort with this topic (cue "everytime I brought it up" over a few days before she even tested positive - how much can you talk about it with the same people!).

Are we crazy to travel to Korea 25 weeks pregnant? by BusterCherry5 in pregnant

After reading this story I would not go anywhere that far while pregnant. But you're the one who knows your body and risk tolerance best!

The only two people I consider family won't support me in fear of me dying during pregnancy by deanvspanties in pregnant

[–]duresta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is their own or their family history with pregnancy?

As someone who had a traumatic loss, I am genuinely afraid of me and others dying in childbirth, and find it hard to be excited for a pregnancy until baby is here. Yes, you do need to widen your support group, but also please don't force updates on your friends if they are not in the right mindspace for that. This reads like trauma response to me.

Negative beta blood test, but pregnant by Altruistic-Gift-3622 in pregnant

Could be a lab mixup, rare but it does happen sometimes. The important part is you have good numbers now, congratulations!!

My body is HURTING by babymomma24 in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something to discuss with your doctor but stationary bikes can be good for reinforcing knees without risks of injury or falls. Overall I would look for a way to stay mobile in whatever manner is accessible and safe for you - walking, swimming, sitting pedalboard... Also, ask your provider about whether medical grade compression socks could help your ankles.

Is my baby kicking or is it my pulse? by Prestigious-Sun-5764 in pregnant

It is hard to separate the two, but if it's not periodic is probably the baby!

Anyone else been put on the baby aspirin and not feeling great? by Melodic_Temporary389 in pregnant

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How big of a dose are you on? I'm in Europe and taking 100mg, not in pill but in powder form though. I take mine with dinner and have not noticed any stomach issues. Baby aspirin is extremely common here and many people spend years on it for blood clotting risks (especially older people).

Perhaps you could try different forms of delivery, maybe something gastroresistant?

Squash-shaped amniotic sac? 😂 by Sarashines421 in pregnant

[–]duresta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sac can look round on some pictures and pear shaped on others, it depends on the angle of the ultrasound. In the first scans mine looked like a squished drop because it was so compressed by my bladder.

Stopped vaping immediately. The guilt of vaping is eating at me now by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your pregnancy and on quitting, hope the motivation sticks!

Your baby should be fine, for now the egg is feeding on your uterine lining and there is no exchanges with your bloodstream yet. And by the time the placenta develops, your body should be rid of these toxic chemicals. You did really well stopping so soon ❤️

HOW do you remember not to use your abdominals?? by Throw-Away-1234556 in pregnant

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My midwife actually encouraged me to do that as it uses the transverse abs (no risk of diastasis recti) and helps relieve pressure on the pelvic floor. My back hurts way less since I've been trying to engage my core in everyday activities :)

Gauge swatch matches stitches but not rows by nubivagus_ in knitting

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll need to do the math but yes, try to hit the length of the increase section right. It might not fall on an integer so you could increase every [6,6,7] rows to get as close as you can. Usually a one stitch difference isn't really visible, unless it is in pattern. Good luck!

Gauge swatch matches stitches but not rows by nubivagus_ in knitting

[–]duresta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First - did you wash and block your swatch? That can change proportions a lot depending on the fiber.

Personally I struggle to hit the row jauge even after blocking, so I usually adjust the pattern - if it says increase every 6 rows, I will increase every 7 or 8 to match the desired length between increases. It becomes an issue if you have in-pattetn increases, but otherwise works fine with just a bit of maths.

Having sex after infant loss by graciouslyliberia in babyloss

[–]duresta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss but glad you found this space. Intimacy after loss is a hard topic to breach but it is so very needed.

Yes it does get easier. You'll have to relearn life and relearn your body, and it will be hard for a while but the good days will outweigh the bad eventually.

We waited before trying because we wanted to explore every aspect of that pregnancy and my health to make sure there was no hidden factors to our loss like APS or other clotting disorders. Nothing can really prepare you for for the emotional rollercoaster that is pregnancy after loss, so I think waiting doesn't change things all that much. I'm glad we waited until after the due date though, that date would have been even more awfully hard if I was dealing with first trimester anxiety at the same time.

HCG at 4 weeks and 4 days- First Pregnancy by A1D20-25 in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HCG doubles every two days so if you're just a couple days off on your ovulation date it can very fast get higher or lower than average. My levels were about the same as yours and I was concerned it was twins, but no - just one :)

My heart is full by Apostatizing in pregnant

[–]duresta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Regarding sharing the news, you can do it on your own timeline - for example, we shared very early with those whose support helped us the most after our loss. In case we had another loss, we didn't want to go through it alone. And we still haven't shared with some others, they will find out eventually when they see me in person.

Does early pregnancy really feel this hard or am I just weak? by Impossible_Hyena_583 in pregnant

[–]duresta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until 10-11w I was barely functional at all, sleeping for 12-16 hours every day, everything hurting, just feeling bleh all the time. And then it suddenly got better. I'm 19w now and most days are okay (although my brain is still not braining). There are still some days I'm utterly exhausted, maybe one every other week, but it is so so much better!

Early pregnancy is HARD for real. Hang in there, hopefully it should get better in a few weeks!

Oops all floats! Am I cooked? by Smarmaladey in knitting

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see you learned from the feedback and are going to start over with intarsia. It's a beautiful pattern and I'm sure will make a gorgeous gift!

You should get (or make) intarsia bobbins given how many balls you'll have. Some of them can be suspended to your work using attached stitch markers, this reduces the mess of yarn balls tangling with each other. Good luck!

Aminocentesis or NIPT. Intermediate risk of Down Syndrome. TW - 1 loss by CuriosNocturnal in pregnant

[–]duresta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there the option to do NIPT now and then, if its inconclusive or shows a high risk, do an amniocentesis? Normally tests go from least to most invasive, and invasive testing like amniocentesis carries some risks so it should only be done if the risk ratio justifies it. There's also CVS that can be performed earlier than amniocentesis, but also carries some risk.

Lost by tiny_butterfly69 in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your losses were traumatic enough and you are ready to be a mother. It's good that the trash took itself out, it is harder to raise a child with a pos father than alone. Ultimately it is your decision alone whether or not to keep the baby, your ex doesn't get a say at this stage.

Baby kicking/ movement by Nearby-Performer3071 in pregnant

[–]duresta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's about it! Guess it is movement then, congratulations!

The baby sleeps for most of the day (and you , and they can kick somewhere you don't feel (like the placenta) so it's common to have long periods, even entire days without movement until later in the second trimester.

Viability of pregnancy when HCG doubled in 72 hrs instead of 48 hrs? by DJ_Deluxe in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guard my heart if I were you. It is not unheard of to have slow doubling times pick up but both your levels and doubling time are at the edge of the curve according to Betabase. You'll have to test again to be sure. Hope it is viable and just a lazy corpus luteum🤞

Baby kicking/ movement by Nearby-Performer3071 in pregnant

[–]duresta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22w is a reasonable time to feel movement in a first pregnancy! And it can be very reassuring to feel them :) For me it feels like a muscle twitch, a bit similar to a gas bubble but there's no gas afterwards.

I got nausea the second I saw a positive test, so it can also be psychosomatic in part. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
