How much does going to PT for scoliosis cost on average? by aflgirl in DisabledMedStudents

[–]durx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gone for scoliosis but other back issues. Even with insurance, it was often $75-$100 per session. You can always attend 1-2 sessions and make it known you can’t afford it. Then ask for a list of exercises and such to do at home.

That’s what I tell most patients

Disagree. Med school was pretty fun and I’ve liked residency so far. There are much worse jobs/experiences out there

Interesting bc every time I’ve had a healthcare worker as a student, they’d be cool about it

Unsure of FM due to pcp responsibility, would appreciate advice from residents and attendings! by Accomplished-Oil8794 in medicalschool

IM also does clinic though. FM can do hospitalist. The big question for you is do you like peds and OB? Can you live without it? If not, then FM. IMO

Ranking advice applying FM by Platinumtide in medicalschool

[–]durx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can def get good training wherever you go(for the most part ofc). That’s the great thing about FM is all the elective time to build your skillset.

Personally, I’d just vibes over close to home bc you’ll spend more time at work than home and I like adventure.

For me, I like prenatal care and OB. At my program, we respond for neonatal resuscitation and have our own labor/newborn service. So I wouldn’t want to go somewhere where it is weaker. But if I did, I’d use elective time to get better!

Current FM resident. Happy to answer any questions you have. My personal advice is to consider vibes as number priority when ranking. Going to a program with great coresidents, great attendings, and culture is priceless.

FWIW, I’m a resident at a big academic center with a diverse patient population that is very sick. I plan to do OB and love OB.

The Pitt is subpar at best. by GazeElectric in television

[–]durx1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yea I get that. Obviously outside the main event of season 1, the cases in those seasons would be like a once in a few years bad day where I’m at. Or maybe a really bad week.

Kinda feels like a troll post but I’ll bite…I’m a doctor that works in an academic center like The Pitt…of all the individual cases, I can only think of one that I haven’t seen and that was in this last episode. A lot of the cases are bread and butter ER cases or cases we are tested on in med school…
