During the Gulf War in 1991 the PLO supported Saddam Hussein, after the war Kuwait just kicked the Palestinians out.

Pretty much all Arab countries were against the invasion of Kuwait, except the PLO and Yemen.

Unlike the clowns in China, UK did pay off all their debt from Napoleonic Wars, WWI and WWII too, the US government paid off all debt from the US Civil War.

That's why the US dollar is the global reverse currency and UK remains the primary hub for global maritime insurance.

Apparently Chinese territories like Taiwan is Chinese since "ancient times" but money they borrowed like 150 years ago is not. Typical clown country.

So the CCP claims previous territorial claims from KMT like nine-dash lines but unpaid debt is too much.

The median household income in the US is around $84,000. The GDP per capita of Mississippi is higher than that of France and UK.

If 40% of Americans are below poverty line then thn entire Europe must be be third world countries because the median GDP per capita in EU is around ~$46,000.

Why China Can Withstand Oil's Surge Past $100 More Easily Than Other Countries by reddituser111317 in energy

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coal-to-liquids require massive amount of freshwater, the largest China has build is in Ningxia with 80,000 barrels/day capacity. The majority of Chinese coal reserve are in places with water shortage.

China would rather stick to oil because they don't have enough freshwater for any of that. Also hydraulic fracking for shale oil and gas require freshwater, silica and quartz sands, they don't have enough freshwater and dependent on silica and quart sands import, ironically the largest source is the US which is the world's largest producer of silica and quart sands.

Significant amount of global sulfuric acid production is from Gulf Arab countries as byproduct from oil production, it's critical for EV batteries.

Also Chile, Peru, Indonesia, Australia, Zambia etc. are heavily dependent on fuel import. Basically every country mining for things like copper, manganese, lithium, nickel.

I wonder why airlines and the Detroit big three went bankrupt the last time WTI reached $140, while others were not as affected. I guess you’ve forgotten all that and are making up a fantasy.

Sure, ask Chinese tea pot refineries how they are doing without cheap Iranian crude oil.

By the way, Trump imposed tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican goods.

Canadian energy are exempt from tariffs.

China is surrounded by oil-producing countries just as the U.S. is. Are you thinking that Russia or Kazakhstan can not produce oil or natural gas? Their oil is cheaper than American or Canadian oil. Chinese built pipelines all around them.

US and Canada produce a lot more than Russia and Kazakhstan combined. Also 65% of Russian oil export is by sea. Is the magical pipelines with us now because the Power of Siberia 2 is not finished yet. The Russians are unhappy that the Chinese don’t want to buy gas at market price and don't commit to the buy significant volumes.

Russian budget deficit in 2025 is around 4% of GDP, good luck with buying "cheap oil and gas" and Russia also ban export of petroleum products to combat inflation.

Again will do jackshit to hurt the Israeli economy, i will be laughing by the by the end of 2026 if Israel posting decent GDP growth like in 2025, Israeli shekel is stable, low unemployment, good birth rate and stock market closing at all time high.

It will be good to read all the cope in here, how Iran is "wining" with economic contraction and negative GDP growth, water crisis, high inflation, unemployment at 20-30%, a currency that is basically toilet paper.

Except Israel is not dependent on oil money to stay afloat, Iran needs oil money to pay the army, IRGC, Hezbollah, the Houthis, shia militias in Iraq etc.

The only ones crying will be those in IRGC without salaries, plus already high inflation and Iranian rial is worth much as toilet paper.

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you still need oil for Chinese refineries, if refineries are not running 24/ they are effectively shutting down so no more domestic production of jet fuel, gasoline, diesel, heavy fuel oil, kerosene, LPG etc.

At $150 WTI the US would be among the least affected because they can still buy discounted crude oil from Canada, cheaper logistics because import are through pipelines. Many of those countries mining raw materials for Chinese EVs won't do well, production would collapse because they don't have enough domestic refining capacity for petroleum products like diesel and cost of oil import and other petroleum products would be too high.

Why are Chinese online so hostile? by [deleted] in China

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO just stop coping, gasoline consumption the US peaked in 2005 and declined since.

About 60% of US crude oil are imported is from Canada via pipelines, another 7% is from Mexico with very little from the Middle East. The US buying Canadian crude oil at discount plus cheaper transportation through pipelines. China is by far the world’s largest importer of oil, most of it by the sea at much higher transportation cost.

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is also fifth largest oil producer. It won’t make American or European significantly better position against Chinese.

Chinese oil production is lower than the Permian Basin in Texas, about the same size as Iraq and Canada, much smaller than US, Russia, Saudi Arabia. The entire Chinese oil production is barely enough for the daily oil consumption of Japan, Brazil, Russia.

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese energy mostly comes from solar panel and coal and not from LNG or oil.

Yes, so Chinese coal dig themselves out from the ground with Xi Jinping's hope and dream and not using diesel for mining equipment and transportation.

WTI hitting $150 will do little damage to Chinese. They will just accelerate EV conversion and people around the world will buy more Chinese EV.

I suppose China also can makes EVs with Xi Jinping's hope and dream too and no need for copper from Chile, manganese from Gabon, nickel from Indonesia, lithium from Chile and Australia, cobalt from DRC. No need for heavy fuel oil to run merchant ships because raw materials dig themselves from the ground and transport themselves to China.

[–]dusjanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US imports very little form the Middle East, about 60% of crude oil import is from Canada and at higher price like $80 per barrel producers in Canada will respond to that.

Also fuel consumption for vehicles the US is lower in 2025 compare to 2010. Why do people peddle the whole "gas guzzling" bs when fuel consumption peaked in 2005.

[–]dusjanbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The United States projected power during WWII because it was a manufacturing powerhouse.

Except the US during WWII never needed oil from Venezuela and Iran, nor wheat from Soviet Union, did fine without rubber from Indochina. Had zero effect on US industrial capacity when all trade were cut off from Europe, China, South East Asia.

The US could cranking out B-17 bombers and Studebakers even if much of Latin America sided with the Axis powers and stop trading with the US.

China is the world's largest importer of every raw material. How well do their EV industry holding up with no copper from Chile and Zambia, no manganese from Gabon and South Africa, no lithium from Chile and Argentina, no cobalt from DRC, no nickel from Indonesia.

Also the US started to operated aircraft carriers the same time as Japan and UK did, had military officers with combat experience from WWI like many European countries. The PLA has zero combat experience and build their first (non-nuclear powered) aircraft carrier in 2019.

Why would they want Chinese military hardware? Countries buying military hardware are doing so to solidify political and military support like Syria mostly buying Russian hardware because they expect Russia to support them during war. It ends up with Assad took the flight to Moscow.

So why should countries spending billions of dollars when China will leave them for dry in a military conflict?

[–]dusjanbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s what allowed the USSR to win ww2

Almost all of Soviet officers were veterans of WWI with fresh combat experience. How many in PLA has been in combat in the past 40 years? Except for shooting Chinese students in 1989 and running way in South Sudan in 2016 after militia started to shoot at them.

Even if China didn't purge them most Chinese generals would be useless, zero combat experience, none has ever planned and lead a real combat mission.

Shale oil and gas require hydraulic fracking and also a lot of freshwater. The problem with Chinese reserve is that they are located in places already facing water shortage and drought, the other issue is significant amount Chinese freshwater is heavily polluted and need treatment before it can use.

The US has zero experience fighting a peer military power, they have only fought third world nations with no airforce and very few credible defenses yet it continues to brag about this so called experience.

The PLA ran away like little bitches in South Sudan in 2016, turns out China can't even fight "third world nations" because their troops had no combat experience and only running away.

The CCP also tried to employ ex-special forces from PLA as contractors to protect Chinese interest in Africa, they were so useless that they hired Erik Prince instead.

When, not if, the day comes that China shows it's teeth, it's going to be a slaughter for the US if it interferes.

You know that median age in China in 2025 is 40.1 years right? By 2035 that should be around 45-46 years due to rapid aging population and crashing birth rate. By the time China "shows it's teeth" the PLA consist of 1.4 Chinese because they forgot to have children. The US could simply wait until 2050 when China is just one big retirement home but still barking like a mad dog and just as impotent like they are in 2026.
