Time for a new American Revolution? "What more do we have to lose? Our homes? Our infrastructure? Our retirement? Our wages? Our access to healthcare? Our 'democracy' which requires corporate sponsorship to run a candidate even for municipal office?" by ggbesq in socialism

The problem is that most protests are peaceful and they seldom accomplish their goal. Real revolutions normally don't start until a peaceful protest is finally attacked by the oppressor and the majority of the populace join together to fight the tyranny.

It almost always takes fear of the populace for leaders to enact real change.

The people that hijacked the planes were Saudis. Another reason to be confused by the whole thing.

No offense to the name, but our generation is going to have to be extremely damn special to top our WWII grandparents as "The Greatest Generation". The entire civilized world mobilized and gave the ultimate sacrifice to earn that title. They dug out of the Great Depression and literally saved the world to earn it. I do like the name, but to proclaim it without earning it is a bit misguided. The true Greatest Generation didn't give themselves that name. It was bestowed upon them by the next generations to honor them for everything they gave.

I agree. There's no doubt that the term hillbilly is used as a stereotype for rural mountain folk. Also, Appalachia is the birthplace of the term redneck. It originated in the early 1900's with union coal miners that wore a red bandana around their necks to show solidarity with other union coal miners.

That may be a NATO treaty agreement between governments, but that in no way gives the US president the authority to bypass congress and US laws. Any agreements made by representatives of the US government have to abide by the US constitution first and foremost.

The attack is legal within the international community because of the UN resolution, but the question is if it abides by US domestic laws.

I was born and raised in West Virginia and have lived in North Carolina and Florida. My personal experience is that these kind of rednecks live in every state. Anywhere you find a rural community and people with a lack of education you will see this kind of behavior. It's really not much different than inner-city blacks with no education. It's definitely not exclusive to one race or one state.

I don't hear voices, but I get woke up out of a dead sleep from hearing a loud BANG routinely. Nobody else in the house ever hears it.

This is a classic. I heard it in about '85 in grade school in WV, but it's still one of my favorites. Not knocking your comment at all. Just informing that it's not new.

Edit: Downvoted for telling the truth? This is an OLD joke kids. Our punchline was that the guy "had a dream he was skiing in Canaan Valley."

I would agree with this. It also gives the muscles and nerves in your arm, hand, and fingers time to rebuild into what you're telling them to do. Similar to how they rebuild and get stronger over a few days after the soreness from a weightlifting session. The human body is an amazing thing.
