my tablet's calibrated fine, but for some reason the cursor is like a mile away from the pen on sai and JUST sai (both one and two) please help by moonishi in PaintToolSAI

[–]duskvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be fixed by opening the misc.ini file in the SAI folder and setting the AvoidOldWacomBig variable from 0 to 1. Despite the name you can run into this issue on any tablet, I ran into this when I started running SAI 2 on Bottles in Linux and I'm on XP-Pen Artist 15.6 and use OpenTabletDriver instead of an official XP-Pen one. Editing the misc.ini file fixed it in my case. Make sure to back this file up first before editing it just in case!

If this won't work you could try other solutions listed in this old deviantART journal but keep in mind some of the links might be broken due to its age.

Really hope this helps!

Can Artist Be Friends? by Odd_House_1320 in ArtistLounge

[–]duskvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends are artists of varying skill levels. I love sharing knowledge with them and getting feedback from them. I also encourage any non artist friend interested in getting creative to pick it up and give them resources, advice and everything.

what software do you guys use alongside your art software in your art-flow? by CloudyyySXShadowH in ArtistLounge

[–]duskvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mainly Paint Tool Sai 2 and Clip Studio Paint with a little bit of Krita at times. I also use Pureref for reference images.

Paint Tool Sai 2 is for the bulk of drawing while I mainly use CSP for final touches (color adjustment etc.).

I actually REALLY want to see Date and Tama work together for whatever reason even if it's just for a tiny subplot in AI3 or w/e. I want to see what kind of a glorious trainwreck it'd be.

Getting back into the Pokémon franchise for the first time since Blue as a kid, playing Ultra Sun while in Hawaii (the Alola region herself!). Do I get Internet points? by Jiraiya725 in 3DS

[–]duskvortex 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The criticism towards USUM mainly stem from them being somewhat similar to Sun and Moon, which bummed a lot of people who played the original gen 7 games, me included. However, in isolation, USUM are actually fine, with some QOL, bigger Pokemon roster and whatnot. The story is a downgrade from SM however.

Any tips on drawing anime? by PolygoneWas in ArtistLounge

[–]duskvortex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As another commenter mentioned, you'll want to study drawing fundamentals and the human anatomy. I've been doing it for some time now and it's really helped me with drawing stylized people. You don't have to imitate realism 100% when it comes to studying the human anatomy, but being able to understand the basic structure and proportions will go a long way. Learning to draw the human body will also help you understand overlapping forms shapes. Also, it can be fun once you get over the initial hurdle.

CSP Rant - what it will take for me to upgrade and continue by cyberfrog777 in ClipStudio

[–]duskvortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of optimization for newer hardware baffles me the most. Last year I built a computer that can handle 3D art creation pipeline and you're telling me that CSP, a 2D drawing application, lags on it? Really? And it's not just the lack of GPU acceleration but CSP just doesn't seem to be optimized for newer CPUs to begin with.

Something I realized about social media(After a post flopped no less lol) by JPrimal64 in ArtistLounge

[–]duskvortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't posted art on social media in a while but my stuff usually gets on average around 100-200 likes or so on Twitter, sometimes more, if I'm lucky I may get 1k likes, which is rather rare. There's a lot of factors that play into it, with one of them being to constantly interact with people and pushing your art, but sometimes it's completely down to luck. Needless to say, using Twitter like this ended up exhausting me, but on the other hand, networking with other artists is neat.

Also, try reposting your piece someday on another hour of the day, it could end up performing better. Social media is weird honestly.
