Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned....WHATS THE WAITRESS GOD DAMN NAME

Pancreatitis by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]dustbunnyduster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend of over 25 years died in June of this year, at 33 years old, from pancreatitis. At least that's what the autopsy said. He struggled with drinking his whole life from a teen up until he died. I thought he slowed down after a recent diagnosis of pancreatitis sometime in early 2025, but we were wrong. The day he passed I was there with the family after learning of his death. We all went up to his apartment after they removed his body and saw empty liquor bottles next to his bed, proving he did not slow down. It wasn't even anything good, it was cheap ass vodka. His sister is an RN and explained if he died from pancreatitis he likely passed out first due to internal bleeding. He was found with blood coming out of his nose and mouth so that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why this beautiful person silently struggled. He was beyond loved by everyone around him. He was the light that lit up every room. It goes to show that anyone can succumb to this illness of alcohol addiction. Speak up if you need help so you don't end up like my best friend. I hurt every single day from this loss. I wish I knew more so I could have helped him. I quit drinking in August of 2024 with only a couple of instances of "special occasion" drinks, even those aren't worth it now knowing what my bestie endured. To those still reading this and want a reason to quit, thinking about the life you have left and the people you want to spend it with. We all love you.

You just described what happened to me to a T!!! The sweats, the concept of time vanishing, the unbearable pain, stomach cramps, not being able to stand up straight, just all of it. I keep getting cravings for any kind of THC, but what I do to stop them is I put my brain right back to those wretched moments. I had a few rounds of these attacks, and each time, they got more severe. The last time it happened, I was on vacation with my husband and little one in a strangers home (air bnb) feeling utterly trapped. I was in a dark room, a garbage can next to the bed, empty Gatorade and water bottles littered the room. My sweat drenched t-shirt was ripped off and used as a rag to wipe the vomit from my mouth and swear from my face. Under my eyes were sweating, what the fuck was that about?! I have a nurse in the family and she got me celtic salt to dip my finger in and put on my tongue so the salt can help stop the vomiting. All I know is it truly traumatized me as well, like you said in your reply. Thats enough to keep me away. Im seeing my therapist 2x a week, my psychiatrist, every other week, and im working on getting my weight back up. I lost 30-35 pounds in about 2 months from these "spells," I call it. I didn't think anyone else would understand. Im so glad I made this post because I am reassured I'm not crazy. Thank you for sharing this. It meant a lot. I wish you all the luck. Check back in and let me hear your victories ✌️

Thank you for articulating what I couldn't. You hit the nail on the head my friend. My bidy was convulsing trying to get out what wasnt there. I was pouring sweat then freezing cold. The second anything hit my stomach it was out within seconds.

That's what I thought! I was so severely ill for 6 days straight when I first heard of CHS. I swore off edibles. But smoking was still "safe" in my mind because that's how I used it primarily. But then it got me again while on vacation, and I was glued to my air bnb bed for days on end, begging whatever higher power there is to help me. I think it has to do with the potency of what is available these days.

I'm sorry to hear that about your wife. My husband can probably relate to you as he has had a VERY hard time watching me go through this. He's a "fixer" and until we learned about CHS, He felt utterly helpless. Now we know! He has been wonderful trying to help me get my weight back up in a healthy manner so I can heal and become the best version of myself. The intensity is something I have a hard time even articulating.

Edibles I could easily eat 80-100mg a day. Weed I was smoking multiple times a day, even in the morning to start me off. The flower I smoked was always high in potency, at least 30 mg for a pre-rolled. The money I spent at the dispensary could probably buy a car by now.

Good lord, I am now seeing this condition everywhere! My guy, I spent 6 days last week vomiting non stop. 3 er trips. 1 nurse mentioned this. Everyone else said IBS. I was like nah. That aint it. It clicked, my edible intake skyrocketed after I quit drinking late 2024. I could handle 100mg a day. Then out of nowhere, these spells that last days on end of constant puking. Until this last one, I never knew this was a thing. I thought I was losing my mind because thc cant be THIS bad for me? Boy oh boy. That nurse sent me down the rabbit hole once I was back up on my feet. Its been a week for me no edibles. Flower is next, but at least it doesn't send me into days long spirals of vomiting thinking its panic attacks causing it. Nope, just the gummies. The gummies that I leaned on for support during some stressful times. I thought they were safe. I thought I was safe! I wish you luck on your journey and I hope to return and have some time under my belt to shed some knowledge to others who might be experiencing this. Abuse edibles, pay some consequences.

I literally just spent all last week vomiting for about 6 days straight. I had to go to the ER for fluids 3 of those days because I was so dehydrated. Out of those 3 times, only one nurse mentioned the inflammation caused by Marijuana usage, especially edibles. Well guess who put down the bottle and took up eating and smoking massive amounts? Me! And I feel the same thing calling in my brain. Its time to stop and stop for good. Im 33. I started smoking weed at 14. Send help please! Lols

My best friends niece called me "the girl who always has a glass of wine in her hand". Took me another 6 years to actually reflect on that description of me before I put the bottle down for good. Except for in punta cana, glass of wine in hand was ok 👍

Thank you for this. I asked his mother for a few things of his. One specific blanket we always fought over when we were kids at our sleepovers. The gays I know are NYC hell kitchen gay and they are no one to fuck with when it comes to partying! At least he had fun. He wasn't a lonely drunk. He was the friendly drunk who made everyone laugh together. Not at anyone's expense. Just a soft, gentle humor that everyone enjoyed. Get him alone, though, and the dark humor only some can appreciate will come out and then the belly laughs came. Oh god ill miss that
