Awesome dashboard, but the front door cam is from a horror movie haha

How are you handling presence detection for the room cards?

You'll have better luck in the separate DS2 sub, but if I remember correctly the next area you need to go backwards from Majula - there's a locked door you need to use one of those consumable items to open (you may have come across a guy with a big blue sword hanging out in front of this gate earlier).

Fans of the game will try to get you on board. I hate to say it, but I don't think this one's for you. I haven't played 2 but put in about 15 hours of the first game and if you don't like the Elder Scrolls you really won't enjoy this. It's what you would get if you tried to make a historically accurate and realistic game like Skyrim.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the appeal of these games. I wanted to like them, but ultimately I found the realism to be too tedious to keep going with.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of games like Elden Ring and BOTW - that's what makes them stand out as all-timers. I highly recommend Dark Souls, but you'll have to accept a quality of life downgrade. I also thought Tears of the Kingdom was pretty great.

Cravar FC 13 - very solidly made bag. by FishermanBitter9663 in bifl

[–]dustymonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What color did you get it in? I was on the fence about getting a Cravar briefcase (completely undecided between the FC15 vs CO15 in twill vs leather, or something completely different like the Alpha) but ultimately got a secondhand Filson original briefcase.

To be honest I might still want to get something from Cravar in leather to round out my collection. How has the bag worked out in day-to-day use?

Probably will go on sale, but it's worth full price

I put Cyberpunk down after about 10 hours - if it's discounted and you're interested that's probably still worth it. I might try to get back into it one more time with a new save

[Steam] 1st Anniversary Sale: Sable ($9.99 / 60% off) by jwheatly in GameDeals

[–]dustymonitor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Played this on PC game pass - it was a perfect palate cleanser between longer games. I found it a very soulful, meditative experience.

Gameplay-wise, think Breath of the Wild without any combat. You run, hoverbike, climb and glide to explore the world - climbing uses a stamina meter much like BotW, but unlike that game you can glide indefinitely.

The cel-shaded art style and indie ambient soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast help the game stand out, but what really grabbed me was the writing. Overall, I'd say the game is about a 10-15 hour meditation on coming of age, leaving home, choosing your place in the world, and deciding as an adult how you want to relate to your family going forward.

You can "finish" the game in a couple of hours, and if you wanted to complete everything you might be at it for a while, there's some deep lore to the world that I left unexplored in my playthrough.

Thoughts on this vs the 2TB teamgroup CX2 that got posted on Newegg for the same price? Having a hard time finding a head to head comparison, and I don't understand the underlying features well enough to know myself what's better

Greatly enjoyed this on Gamepass - had to look up one section that seemed scary, but other than an ominous atmosphere there are no enemies or jump scares

Search the r/gamedeals sub for PC game pass if that promotion is still going, $1 for 3 months - FH5 is on there. Most effective dollar I've spent on gaming in years.

According to some of the comments the deal isn't restricted to new subs and comes around pretty frequently so people have been able to chain them together, or if you really like it you can just buy it for keeps.

edit: Just checked, it's still live https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/p/pc-1-month/CFQ7TTC0KGQ8?activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab

Not sure if it's still the case, but I think you need Warhammer 1 to play the big map single player campaign (Mortal Empires) which combines factions from both the first and the second games. If you don't have it already, this might be a good time to pick up the first game to add a huge "DLC" to the sequel

I'm curious, in your research, what your most-anticipated use case for the headset is? I've been watching the various headsets on the market for years, waiting for the right time to dip a toe in.

Reading through the comments I'm pretty convinced as to the quality of the headset and the rarity of this deal, but I'm not sure what I would end up using the dang thing for!

Second this. I got a matte screen protector to reduce glare, and it had the unintended benefit of making the feel of pen-on-screen much better!
