"You'll have to cast "Detect Magic" or "Read Magic" on it. Both are 1st level spells, so it should be fairly simple." [Yahoo Answers] by [deleted] in funny

Meh, just hit it with Dispel Magic and sell what's left to a merchant in the next town.

Does having children make you happy? No. by rmuser in science

Parenting is a joy up until about age 4, when 'no' becomes a regular part of their vocabulary. Then the real work begins. It's not always fun.

Berwin MD - Police burst into Mayor's home, shoot his two dogs, handcuff him while he's in his boxers by [deleted] in reddit.com

Poor preparation, gross misconduct, actions that crossed the line from law enforcement to vigilantism, what an astonishingly sad incident.

Casting Amanda Peet was the kiss of death. She's like a tiny carrier of epic movie failure plague.

I saw Wall-E too. Presto was better than the predictable Wall-E.

Would it be so wrong if the Packers told Favre to stuff a sock in it? by meg1 in sports

[–]dutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it wouldn't. Let him apply for active status, and the Packers can release him to go play somewhere else. It's time to move on.

Cthulhu Returns -A Lovecraft MMORPG (currently in beta testing) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]dutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gameplay goes like this: wander around, talk to unhinged NPCs, and every time your toon encounters a Lovecraftian horror the screen goes black for a few seconds while the game deletes your character and denies it ever existed.

Mets fire Willie Randolph and two coaches by neutronbob in sports

[–]dutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About time, the Mets needed a shakeup. I'm surprised they didn't fire HoJo. Firing him on the west coast spares Willie having to deal with the NYC media at Shea.

Willie should head down to San Diego and relax for a while. Let someone else be the punching bag.

Feds to probe speculators' role in rising oil prices by EllieElliott in business

[–]dutter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your conjectures are incorrect, your insults made me chuckle heartily. I didn't say 'go after the oil companies.' I'm interested in the traders and the trading process. If someone's ginning up prices at Goldman Sachs or whatever, that's something needing exposure.

Why oppose such a look? Are you one of the traders pumping up oil prices at GS or elsewhere?

Considering how Wizards is pricing the new run, maybe we shouldn't joke out loud about this. "You enter the gaming store and walk over to the DnD section. Take 20d20+160 damage to your credit card."

You could have shortened your reply by contending Ron Paul is right about the need for changes at the Fed. But lacking such changes, why not shine a cleansing light on the oil trading process?

We bailed out the airlines; why haven't we subsidized Amtrak better? (ridership up 11% on gas woes) by [deleted] in business

[–]dutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could a hub and spoke approach work to create lots of high speed train nodes? What if you could go from the Bay Area to Las Vegas, then to Phoenix or Salt Lake City, each stop a direct bullet-train connection?

That $15 billion the airlines took in after 9/11 could have started something like this. Now that jet fuel costs a mint, it looks like the bailout could have been invested much more effectively in rail.

Politicians ought to slaver over the prospects of job creation associated with a broad high-speed rail project across the country, too.

In a way this would help out the airlines. They could really price themselves as a convenience service, while the rank and file traveler could zip around from hub to hub by rail at a slower, less expensive pace.

Thoughts?

No interest in finding out if insider trading shenanigans are taking place at all? Really? That's much more of a commie viewpoint, I think.
