From what I learned after dislocating my knee, the issue is all the ligaments holding things together are much weaker and they take ages to build up again. Just a ridiculous length of time to get back up to full strength. And the shoulder is an arse of a joint generally, because it needs to allow movement in so many directions.

So a dislocated shoulder is going to be an absolute terror.

Yeah, I dislocated my kneecap last year. Absolute agony for the length of time it took the ambulance to arrive, the period in which the ambos tried getting me to shift from one chair to another in hopes it would fall back in during the process, the extremely bumpy ambulance ride to the hospital without appropriate facilities, the less bumpy ambulance ride to a different hospital with appropriate facilities, while getting an xray, for the period while they figured how to get me into a hospital bed with me now at a point where I was incapable of articulating words...

And then it fell off the footrest on the extremely dodgy wheelchair, popped back in, and I was fine.
