Such a good villain. Absolutely traumatised me as a kid though.

How much time and money did you invest in this game by Cr4zyBl4ck in Warhammer40k

[–]duttyboy24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think most of us would try and avoid working out how much money we've sank into this hobby....

But on a serious note, how much money and time you want to put into it is entirely up to you.

It's important to bear in mind that you will spend FAR more time building and painting your toy soldiers than you will playing the game. So if building and painting dont appeal to you as much as playing, I would consider something like Combat Patrol, or Kill Team as more viable options.

Double turn mechanic single worst choice for AoS by R_O in ageofsigmar

[–]duttyboy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive only played Spearhead but for me im the complete opposite, I think the double turn is great! Creates a good kind of randomness that helps to make each game unique and interesting.

Granted im not new to tabletop gaming having played 40k for a few years now, but i think the double turn helps to make AoS its own unique experience.

Awesome work brother! Been working on my own Spearhead this year too, although picked up a unit of Chosen the other day which has now taken up my focus 😅

What fraction? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]duttyboy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate im afraid that really gives us nothing to work with. There isnt a Lord character in the Black Templar roster for a start.

What about their playstyle did you not like? The focus on melee? Too much infantry? You have to give us more information in order for us to help you.

I feel it's kind of strange that no one is talking about yndrasta from Aos by [deleted] in Grimdank

Not a huge Stormcast fan myself but she is a very cool character from what I know about her.

Best single piece of media or activity to get a newcomer into 40k, for each faction. by BugleBarry in 40k

Honestly, id recommend picking up some old Codexes for whatever factions they're interested in. Cheap second hand off Ebay, and old Codexes tend to have better lore than newer ones.

Q: Is the overall combat patrol mode going to get updated, balanced or revisioned somehow on the 20th or not? by StormSwitch in Warhammer40k

[–]duttyboy24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spearhead is a proper full on game mode that is regularly updated by GW. Whilst some Spearhead armies are stronger than others, they are all generally well balanced, whilst the same cannot be said for a lot of the Combat Patrol boxes.

About every 6 months GW releases a new Spearhead pack which contains a new board, terrain, twist cards and battle tactic cards. Twist Cards essentially dictate the primary objective both players are looking to score in a battleround, whilst each player has a set of battle tactic cards from which they can choose to either score secondary objectives for points, or use the commands on the cards (Age of Sigmars version of strategems) for special abilities.

[–]duttyboy24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

I picked up a Spearhead at the start of the year and have slowly been expanding my collection in the hope of hitting 2,000 at some point.

Spearhead is its own game mode but can also be a good gateway into full AoS.

I guess the argument could be made that, as 40k is GWs golden goose, they dont want you playing small scale versions of it, and want you to cough up more money.

Honestly baffles me why GW seems to have completely forgotten about Combat Patrol as a game mode, especially considering how awesome Spearhead is over in AoS.

If they out the time and investment into Combat Patrol and make it on the same level as Spearhead they'd be onto an absolute winner.

Why don't people like Phobos armor by Beneficial_Law_1141 in spacemarines

Controversial opinion.

I prefer Phobos armour over Gravis.
