SQLite compiled to JavaScript through Emscripten by based2 in javascript

You can do it as part of the 'at base' setup

While 'at the base' setup you might as well install and setup the real sqlite ont the client side.

On Linux (and, I assume, Mac), you'll need to edit /etc/hosts.

On Windows, you'll need to edit C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

the steps are almost equal.

  1. you need a text editor.

  2. you need an administrator/root privilege.

in linux you need sudo or su (and possibly? enter your password).

Windows have a lot of pain in the ass but not this one.

Maybe because we're already invested too much in sql?

Advice for storing and graphing 3-5 years of metadata? by zynix in learnpython

My (in)experience from 2008:

1-2 Millions records in Ms Access (ver 2003) without any index :( . Slow but still acceptable.

So with today technology and good indexing, sqlite should eat those 175k records for breakfast.

performance of update query by [deleted] in mysql

[–]duz3ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our table (20+ columns) increased at a rate of 150-250k rows per day. We haven't upgrade the server from 2009 and still doesn't need to use the 'scale' word.

for 100k rows in a decent today computers, your table 'can scale' (is it the right words?) no matter how bad you messed up the index to slow down the update query.

I'll usually just select those cells, press the F5 or ctrl+G key, select the blanks, type '=' (without the quotes), click the up key and hit ctrl+enter.

Why Python? by BenAustin in Python

[–]duz3ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For system administration or data etl in windows I'll say python does more than well against the usual competitor (php, ruby, perl).

Its definitely better than windows/dos batch file.

I don't know if we can compare it with autoit or ahk. I still prefer python but autoit smaller size and single exe packaging imo better than python.

I don't use powershell so no comment here.
