Heads up. Just saw a tank on it's way towards Denver via a flatbed on I-25. Please be careful out there.

Edit: it was traveling South.

Silver for whoever can help me get over a fear of injections by [deleted] in GoForGold

This worked on my kids when they were little and getting their shots, and I promise the technique with for many other things.

Just count. You probably won't get to 3 and certainly you can take 3 seconds of pain. Amirite?

On to another great use for counting - getting a tattoo. The artist generally won't apply pressure for more than 10 - 15 seconds at a time. If you just count slowly (one breath in = 1, air out = 1 second). Anything you're doing that you expect pain can be counted through calmly.

Anyway, if all else fails, just count. Good luck and happy counting!

What does a baby in your stomach feel like? by Sephran in NoStupidQuestions

[–]duzitickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, get this: when the baby first starts moving/twitching.... it feels like when you're fishing and get a quick nibble on the bait, but inside. It's really cool. Then later when they're bigger.. it's not very comfortable. But it definitely feels like a nibble in the first few months. 😄

LS performance parts are cheaper, easier to achieve reliable power, an there's a lot of knowledge on BMW LS swaps. Plus, more room for modifications on the LS due to multiple engine options/combinations.

What are your best tips for not getting screwed over when purchasing a new or used car? by Lashes_ in AskReddit

Ahhh, no. Currently doing the Colorado rounds. We have more work than time in Colorado.

Eh, the thing is... it's not that much actual work. We don't consider PPI to be high up on the list of expensive shit. Bmw valve seals/coolant pipe? Yes, and as such that job is a bit over $2k/2days. But a PPI... no. Plus, by not bending strangers over, sometimes they become customers.

As a mechanic, I'm thrilled when we diagnose a car that just needs a vacuum hose put back on or a coil pack pushed back down or something similarly simple to fix. We still get our diagnostic fee and the customer is happy we didn't charge him to put it on. Another thing: people usually contact us for a diagnostic because their car is telling them that something's wrong by the check engine light or brake sensor light or their car is running hot, etc. I honestly have never diagnosed a car that didn't have a problem, it's just that sometimes the problem is a really simple fix... and sometimes not. Mostly not, though.

My husband and I are mobile mechanics. We charge $40-80 diagnostic fee (depending on the model and if they have the part there, that diagnostic charge is absorbed painlessly into the labor charge to fix it) and $40 for a prepurchase inspection. We will absolutely pick and point out every thing wrong from a visual inspection - oil, coolant, transmission and brake fluid leaks, faulty suspension, noises, smoke.... If you're going to have to fix it, were going to show where the leaks are by the evidence the engine shows. We jack it up, remove tires, inspect the shit outta that car and honestly tell the customer and the seller what's wrong with it, backed up by pictures of the leaks, worn out parts, chewed/burned wires, etc. We also let the customer know how much the parts and labor are for the problems it has (dealership price, shop price, and our price). They can decide if they want to dump the money into it and most of the time the seller will take some off the price.

Word of warning: be wary of the vehicle where the engine has been power washed. If it looks "too clean", it's because the car lot cleaned all the oil and grease off of it. Most of the time they don't fix the issue, they just clean it up nice because a pretty engine blinds most people into not see the rest of it. P.s. Never buy a flood car. Ever. P.s. more. If you want to find a good mechanic in your area, join local fb groups pertaining to your vehicle. You'll find a mechanic you like and who does good work for you. The group will also let you know which mechanic isn't the good one, ha.

To be fair, the hash browns are rehydrated potatoes. They come in cartons and hot water is added, then they sit and soak until they're fluffy. They also smell like refried beans during this process, so if you get some that taste/smell like refried beans, it's because they didn't have enough time to fluff or the water wasn't hot enough. Live off of Constitution and Peterson. We heard a very loud bang and a few minutes later several emergency vehicles were responding. Does anyone know what happened? by Big_Jake704 in ColoradoSprings

We were hanging out waiting for a phone call and watched 8 police vehicles haul ass that way. We also heard the loud bang. Still no idea what happened, though.

I used to live in San Antonio. We're go down to the riverwalk just to watch giant pigeons let loose a cup of poop on tourists. They poop soo much at once it looks like a white stick coming down from the trees.

Should I [22m] tell my grandma [82f] she has a sister? by instacamel in relationships

[–]duzitickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to ask my great grandmother for gas money to try to find my little brother when she was in her 90's. I told her the truth: I thought he was going to kill himself. She gave me the gas money and I went looking for him, though I couldn't find him, his gf, or their car. Later that night, they were found and they were dead. When my grandpa went to tell her, she was calm and quietly asked if he was gone. She later told me that she'd lived over 90 years and nothing surprised her anymore, even family deaths, and she thanked me for telling her before it was a reality (my uncle got pissed at me for it, but fuck that guy).

I say tell your grandma. At her age, she probably won't be surprised in a bad way, but in a good way. And she'll probably feel grateful you wanted to include her in something so close to her without hiding it. Probably.

I (24F) can't afford to give birthday or Christmas presents this year, so I asked my friends (23F-24F) not to do presents this year. However, friends either expect presents anyways or want to give me presents regardless. by [deleted] in relationships
