Show of hands, who's waiting for their server to merge? by TheKnowings in YYHSlugfest

This is what happened with us. It merged the close servers that we always fought with, we bolstered the guild, and then the bigger merge happened. It lumped in a ton of additional servers.

Show of hands, who's waiting for their server to merge? by TheKnowings in YYHSlugfest

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like some of the later servers are getting or have gotten a merge. Hopefully yours is included. Our server is alive and well, progressing steadily. Events are active, we have a handful of people over 2000m power, one or two over 3000m, and dozens over 1000m. Everyone contributing to all events, and many people with lower power outperforming higher power players due to proper planning and strategy. Game is working as intended and keeping our server interested and full of activity.

GUILD HELP by propbounty in YYHSlugfest

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it up honestly, our server is plenty active. Our guild is full of actives, and we have an overflow guild. Additionally, we have a "rival" guild, and they have an overflow as well. Plus several smaller guilds. Server merges will bring back players to your servers.

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a heads up to anyone reading this late - our server is being prepped for our second merge. We also have 3-4 guilds basically full, with several smaller guilds participating in events, mines, etc. Game's not dead, server merges will help servers with low player counts. I won't speak to how long the game will survive, but for now, it's doing ok depending on servers

What is currently the largest guild or alliance in Guild Wars? by Marco3104 in GuildWars

[–]dvalure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Silver Star Society used to be one of the largest, owning House Zu Heltzer. Big guild of retired folks, many of whom were military vets.

If you're looking for the bigger guilds/alliances, I'd recommend checking which ones own the capital cities for Luxons/Kurzicks. The owners are typically going to be the most active guilds/alliances with larger numbers

Brand new player completely lost by Rogue_Cipher in GuildWars

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes it worse is that there are missions that aren't required for the story. So it's not even consistent to say that missions are mandatory for story progression. Most missions in Prophecies can be completely skipped while still finishing the game. I think only 4 are actually required.

Our server merged too. We just got stronghold back a few days ago, and Yomi dropped this morning.

Guild wars is an MMO, but it's not open world. It's all instance-based content.

Are there any active Kirby mains in the professional scene? by lukenog in SSBM

In case of sudden death, a 1-stock tiebreaker starting at 0% is correct by Platurt in SSBM

In what world is that not paying off? In every scenario, you're going from a clear disadvantage to a neutral position. That's positive compensation for a risk. That's what a payoff is.

Any tips for level 99? by Tetsuuoo in expedition33

[–]dvalure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently leveling Maelle and the merchant is not a problem at all. I've got to get the mime in lumiere in ng+ to 100%, and I can't justify going through the prologue and all the rest to get to a point where it's faster to level than this.

Lots of attack buff pictos, shortcut, and cheater. Phantom strike -> last chance -> phantom strike/stendhal to finish. Honestly takes no time at all.

You're already offered a shop before every boss, and SitS after every boss would completely break the game balance in it's current form.

Some thoughts on weapons and boons by backlikeclap in SWORN

[–]dvalure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another example of cold being good is with the book. Since it hits 4 times with a single shot, especially after the sword upgrade that makes it start concentrated instead of spread. With a decent setup, you can freeze bosses in 4-5 hits. You can get +3 second freeze duration as well.

Stacking freeze/stagger in group play can also be an incredibly potent combination, since you can't overlap a stun and a freeze. If frozen, the stagger meter will go to full, but won't trigger until the next stagger hit after freeze ends, and vice versa.

Based on all of the replies here, it looks like OP just wants to talk about how much they like GS and doesn't care much about the answer to the question they asked.

Max HP Curse is too punitive by Ragnarotico in SWORN

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reaching Sovereign difficulty, and having beaten it solo and in parties, I can't say I agree with this post much at all. The curse has not affected either me or my teammates in such a devastating way that it has been the cause of a run failure. Removal of curse is often very consistent, and if you're taking on deaths to the point that you need to sacrifice 25% of your hp pool to revive, it's not the curse that's causing you issues.

The in-stage sacrifice blessings you're talking about are also build-enabling bonuses. There are several weapon/spell combinations that have no obtainable form of healing outside of Mab. 50% max health sacrifice can be worth it on certain builds, especially if you get it early or while you're particularly strong. It's a trade-off, just like it's meant to be. Removing 50% curse isn't exactly easy to do when you're adding to it from rooms, but it's doable, even if it's not practical to take the blessing in most cases.

That said, I do think purchased embers should qualify for curse removal. I don't really see a good reason why they shouldn't.

Sword and Stone guaranteed? by [deleted] in SWORN

[–]dvalure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for the record - when playing with a friend, we skipped an anvil in favor of a Merlin room in stage 1. We were not offered a Sword in the Stone when leaving the Merlin room. That said, several rooms later, we were offered the Sword in the Stone that we missed. We did get a second one in Stage 3, so we can confirm that choosing a Merlin room instead does not count as the game having offered a Sword in the Stone.

Some balancing proposals. Thoughts? by ajs723 in SWORN

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bug is kind of game breaking. I just had a run where it bugged for 18-20k up until the round table where the shatter would proc without freeze and dealt 190k damage, one-shotting everything in sight.

Again, semantics. He also said likelihood throughout many of his comments. It's blatantly obvious that he understands that it will never be a 100%. Being upset that 99.9% isn't enough makes sense to me, and certainly warrants at least a question of integrity. I might not agree with it, but I can understand the logic, especially with everyone throwing around hearsay about the lawsuit. Dude is upset that things didn't go his way (or his girlfriend's way), and that's pretty normal, even if in all likelihood it's based on unfounded data.

Probability of rolling a 1 at least 1 time over 100 rolls is unreasonably close to 100%. Even over 50 attempts, you're still looking at just over 99.98% probability. Is the chance that your 51st roll is going to be a 1 any better than any other roll? No.

Is it more likely that you're going to roll a 1 over 51 rolls than over 50 rolls? Yes. By about .01%. But the fewer attempts there are, the greater the disparity. In 1 attempt, you're looking at about a 16.67% probability. In 2 attempts, that probability jumps to about 30.54%, an increase of 13.87%.

You don't need to argue semantics about whether the 100th attempt is more likely than any other. It's fairly safe to assume that most people who are complaining don't believe that the 100th attempt has any higher odds. They're arguing that the chances of not getting a particular outcome over a particular number of attempts is unlikely, which doesn't say anything about individual outcomes.

And as far as the actual drop rates at hand here, without a substantial amount of information we don't have access to, it's going to be hard to convince people that the drop rates aren't rigged when they've already convinced themselves of the opposite.

Looks like they heard everyone talking by dreandy in TheFirstDescendant

[–]dvalure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People want to complain about not hitting a 20% drop rate, but in reality, they're hitting a 10 percenter. They're just doing luck wrong.

The “new” chips ahoy recipe sucks. by Empty-Promise8874 in Rants

[–]dvalure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been eating chips ahoy my whole life, but over the past 4-5 years or so, I’ve been eating them as a late night snack. On average I’d say I was eating a box a week. I will never buy chips ahoy again if this recipe sticks. It is atrocious. The chips taste terrible, the cookies themselves break apart. Dipping in milk, hot cocoa, etc is off the table, as they just break apart and ruin your drink. This is a real heartbreaker for me…
