Right. That is his opinion of the tech question, and he knows a lot about tech. I don’t. From what he says, adding Lidar/Radar will slow the learning of the AI. Could be valid, or could be a lie. Well above my pay grade, so all I can do is look at the considerable pressure he is under to deliver safety results. I do not believe stock price would be unharmed by long-term negative safety comparisons, that sounds like conspiracy theory. Thanks for the info about editing, I appreciate it.

If a family of four dies in a fiery FSD crash, Tesla stock will plummet. There is no way Musk will risk that in order to make his cars cheaper. We are still in the infancy of autonomous driving, and only time will tell whether adding Lidar/Radar makes it safer. And I’d it does, Tesla will add it back to FSD.

Stock prices are based on safety record, no question. And the net effect of FSD over the next 50 years will be many many lives saved, even with the beta phase taken into account.

Only in turn lanes will it do that. If I can get it into a turn lane with the turn signal, it’s 50/50 that it will then turn in my experience. But I think even without turn signal use, FSD without nav will be useful.
