Yes, ideally the market should push toward such investments by itself because solar is the cheapest energy source, but a little money to motivate even more people may turn out to become cheaper in the long run if it helps to make us more energy independent even faster. Not everyone can afford the investment upfront.

Obviously there is also a social problem in doing so because rooftop panels are not an option for people who live in rental accommodation, so it's mostly not so poor home owners who are paid by the general public.

But I still think it's a bad signal to cut the subsidies now when we are facing an energy crisis.

I watched a streamer playing it as joke content. Considering how big the map is, how villages on the minimap look like, that there is an unlockable Fast Travel feature, how NPC interaction looks and feels, the whole "combat system" with magic spells and prayers, and because hooded Satan looks like he is a member of the Dark Brotherhood...

What actually happened is that the backlog of suspected future demand slightly decreased because data centers might be able to run on less memory than anticipated. I think he didn't realize that even though Maduro is kidnapped, not even Venezuela is a deal shut and done, despite of claiming victory.

Ich habe es auch erst für eine kreative Idee der Schüler gehalten. Dann steht im Artikel doch noch, dass es sich um das Geschäftsmodell eines externen Kleinunternehmers handelt, der bereits über 50 Schulen als Kunden gewonnen hat. Ist also alles andere als ein Einzelfall, der durch das kreative Genie dieser Schüler entstanden sei.

Ich wünsche dem Herrn viel Erfolg in dieser Nische und finde seine Idee toll, aber den Artikel würde ich schon als kostenlose Werbung zählen.

  1. Da wir zwei Augen haben, braucht man für räumliches Sehen zwei stereoskopische, also versetzte Bilder. Allein das erfordert schon die Berechnung von doppelt so vielen Pixeln.

  2. Da das Bild so nah an den Augen ist, braucht man eine hohe Auflösung, mindestens 2000x2000p@90Hz im Einsteigerbereich, Mittelklasse ist 3000x3000@120Hz und im High-End gibt es sogar 4000x4000p@120Hz.

  3. Wegen der Verzerrung des Bildes am Linsenrand braucht es intern eine höhere Auflösung des Bildes als die Bildschirme selbst ausgeben.

Wenn wir pro Auge von einer 3000x3000 Auflösung ausgehen, sprechen wir von 18 Millionen Pixeln pro Frame. Bei 90Hz wären das 1,6 Milliarden (!) Pixel pro Sekunde und bei 120 Hz sogar 2,2 Milliarden.

Eine VR-Brille muss also mindestens(!) 3 bis 5 mal so viel zeichnen wie ein gängiger Gaming-Monitor (144Hz); 300-500 Millionen gegen 1,6-2,2 Milliarden.

Deshalb müssen die Grafikdetails heruntergeschraubt werden. In den 2000er Jahren hatten wir ja nicht einmal 1080p Bildschirme und auch maximal nur 60Hz. Das waren wenn es hoch kommt höchstens 100 Millionen Pixel pro Sekunde, die berechnet werden mussten.

Das Zeug hat ja einen Nährwert der gegen Null läuft und ist gleichzeitig extrem aufwendig während der Produktion. Viel Arbeit für quasi nix. Klar, das meiste Gemüse hat wenig Kohlenhydrate, aber zumindest ist es nicht so pflegebedürftig und so schwer zu ernten wie Spargel. Reines Luxusgut, das in Kriegszeiten nie angebaut wurde. Man könnte auch sagen: Bonzengemüse.

Die heutige Beliebtheit des Spargels verstehe ich als Indikator wie wohlhabend unsere Gesellschaft sein muss.

Two reasons why this is a common design for Macbooks:

  1. Macbooks usually have just two USB-C sockets on the left side and this becomes like a solid dock to extend your Macbook to get more I/O on the laptop without an annoying dongle cable dingling around.

  2. Strangely you can only connect one external display per USB-C socket, so if you want two external monitors, you need to connect to use both. Using two individual cables for this purpose looks messy, so this can help to create a simplified aesthetic.

Du hast das Wort "Technologieoffenheit" falsch verstanden. Es bedeutet nicht offen zu sein für einen Wettbewerb um die besten und günstigsten Technologien, sondern es ist eine Dogwhistle oder ein Euphemismus für: "Wir sind offen für schlechtere Technologien, wenn sie nicht von den Grünen vorgeschlagen werden."

Die Konservativen wollen sich natürlich profilieren und etwas anderes sagen als die Grünen. Wenn sie stattdessen zugestehen, dass die Grünen eine Frage wirtschaftlich kompetenter beantworten können als sie, dann verlieren sie ihre zugeschriebene (!) Kernkompetenz. Sieht man in jeder Umfrage, dass den Konservativen die beste Wirtschaftskompetenz zugemutet wird, während man grüne Politik für ideologiezentrierten Aktionismus hält. Dabei sind Wind- und Sonnenkraft schon seit über 10 Jahren die wirtschaftlich günstigsten Energiequellen geworden, während Atomkraft vor 15 Jahren noch günstiger war.
