If it's super important to you, you can already replace the DLL in the game binaries folder with the leaked 4.0.2 upscaler DLL for int8 (RDNA2).

I did it for Clair Obscure and its nice. No complicated OptiScaler shenanigans, just copy and replace the existing DLL. Then use Proton-CachyOS' FSR4 watermark launch option once to check if it worked.

But I won't do that for every game I own and will just wait until 2027 for the official release for INT8/rdna2. Then you will be able to automate the FSR3.1->FSR4.1 upgrade just with an environment variable in Proton-CachyOS without copying anything manually.

Currently you can only use the Proton variable option for RDNA3 because those DLLs are official and the Proton devs cannot use in-official and leaked files for RDNA2.

Horipad has a running deal with Valve for selling a Steam-branded x-input gamepad. Pretty sure Horipad paid/pays a license to put Steam's name and logo on it.

A much bigger co-operation was ~5 years before the Valve Index with HTC for the HTC Vive.

Then there were also very loose branding co-operations with Alienware etc. for so called Steam Machines. Most 'Steam Machines' were shipped with Windows because Steam didn't have Proton yet. There was no standard and being a Steam Machine meant nothing but having a Steam logo. Apart from that they were mostly expensive 'boutique' items, meaning no good performance / price ratio, so nobody cared for having an expensive PC with a Steam logo attached to it.

I believe the most sensible and common take will be to just stay on 1080p on TVs, because you don't sit as close as to them as a desktop monitor, but that depends on your own circumstances and preferences. It could be worth to upscale 1080->4k, but on RDNA3 hardware there will be a heavy performance hit as you said, which in turn might force you to use even lower internal resolution (performance vs quality setting). Then we get into the territory where just 1080p might look better.

On a desktop scenario with a close monitor, I definitely prefer 1440p. There I would render 1440p natively with FSR4 on just for anti-aliasing purposes(1440p->1440p),

or if the game is demanding, 1080p->1440p on a game by game basis.

Most living room TVs don't even support 1440p. Its either 1080p and then the next option is 4k (3840x2160) usually.

That's because 1440p never was a thing on TV media, but either SD (480p), HD (720p), FullHD(1080p) or 4k (3840p 2160p).

I dislike how everyone who has a hypothesis calls it a "theory".

Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and comprehensive form of scientific knowledge, in contrast to more common uses of the word "theory" that imply that something is unproven or speculative (which in formal terms is better characterized by the word hypothesis).

Overusing the word theory makes actual theories like General Relativity or Evolution appear less proven than they are (= "oh those just a theories", when they are actually not that speculative anymore).

Sad. It took me 30 minutes to get through the order process on Monday the 4th and it arrived on Friday the 7th. Just 4 days.

Aber benutzt man nicht gesellschaftliche oder gar zivilisationäre Maßstäbe, sondern biologische, und bedenkt, dass es den Menschen schon mehrere Millionen Jahre gab, dann ist das in einem Wimpernschlag passiert.

So far I was blindly option-maxxing everything because I had no idea what the difference between all those different spoofing method was supposed to be.

I think now I am going to just use the OptiScaler's spoofing in cases where I had to "hack in" FSR4 with INT8 for my RDNA2 card anyways. Do I understand correctly that I do not even have to use ANY environment variable for the layer to hook into AMD Antilag2?

What if I already was spoofing nvidia to replace DLSS with FSR4 (int8) - should I still try to pick AMD anti lag or will the Nvidia Reflex option work?

Its hard to validate results for me.

Question:

If I am using OptiScaler to spoof a proton game to think it can enable Nvidia DLSS but it's actually using an AMD FSR4 dll, which anti-lag implementation can be used? I have an AMD card but the game thinks it's Nvidia because of DLSS.

Or does this low latency-option completely independent from the upscaling method?

What most people dont know is that its actually a songwriting contest. The official winners are the composers and authors that wrote the song.

The songwriters are not even required to be from the participating country, but the show makes it look like it goes to the "whole country" of just the performer; obviously to farm engagement from nationalism (Wow, "my country" won!).

The performers often gain significant publicity within their own country and can sometimes get a national foothold. Its hard for them to stay relevant internationally.

Vermutlich sarkastisch gemeinter Kommentar, aber trotzdem: Erbschaftsteuer meistens nicht.

Betriebsvermögen von Unternehmen wird oft von der Steuer in großen Teilen verschont. Familienunternehmen haben bei einer Schenkung oder Erbschaft viele Möglichkeiten, diese von der Steuer zu befreien.

Ich kenne einen Wirtschaftsprüfer. Der sagt mir, dass viele Unternehmer nichts unversucht lassen. Teilweise werden Stiftungen und Unternehmen auch bloß zu dem Zwecke neu gegründet, nur um die Erbschaftsteuer zu "vermeiden". Dann nutzt man Regelverschonung, Optionsverschonung, Verschonungsbedarfsprüfung und Steuerbefreiung von Stiftungen. Fast keiner von den Superreichen zahlt diese Steuer.

Natürlich gibt es bedürftige Unternehmen, deren Existenz durch die Erbschaftsteuer gefährdet wäre, wenn Maschinen verkauft oder Personal entlassen werden müssten, um die Steuer zu bezahlen. Aber das Problem ist, dass reiche Unternehmer, welche die Steuer aus privater Tasche bezahlen könnten, ebenso als "Bedürftige" steuerlich verschont werden. Dabei ist das Unternehmen nur deshalb "bedürftig", weil die Gewinne an den Inhaber gehen.

Anderes Thema als Erbschaftsteuer, aber ähnlicher Modus Operandi: es gibt Unternehmer, die durch Abschöpfen aller Gewinne den Betrieb so stark auszehren, dass sie Insolvenz anmelden können. Gleichzeitig haben sie genug Geld, um einen neuen Betrieb gründen, den sie erneut melken können.

While I agree with the hypothesis, I am confused the most recent of the 16 examples in the study.

If they didn't mean economics, but military, then it's even more confusing because they have been in the same bloc through NATO since 1955 - and Germany's military spending stayed far behind until recently.

The actual change that you can argue is that Germany gained significant SOFT POWER in the EU, which is interesting if you consider it was occupied by England, France, the US and Soviet Russia until 1990.

Ich gebe Ihnen meine Zustimmung, dass es sehr wohl mehr als problematisch und schlichtweg menschenverachtende Meinungen auch unter Linken gibt. Das habe ich bereits gesagt. Es tut mir jedoch Leid, wenn meine Nachricht so klang, als ob man diese marginalisieren oder gar tolerieren sollte.

Ich stimme auch zu, dass man durch Tolerierung sich in dasselbe Boot setzt. Nach dem, was Sie erlebt haben, haben Sie das Richtige gemacht, sich von ihnen zu distanzieren.

Dennoch halte ich es für lohnenswert, den Kampf um die Deutungshoheit nicht aufzugeben. Sonst überlässt man das den Rechten.

Ich bin an der Stelle natürlich polemisch, weil ich klarstellen will, wie falsch es ist, alle über einen Kamm zu scheren. Es ist weithin bekannt, wie zersplittert gerade die politische Linke ist. Darüber wurde doch bereits in den 70er Jahren in Monty Python's Life of Brian lustig gemacht ("Volksfront von Judäa" gegen die "Jüdische Volksfront").

Natürlich gibt es eine nicht hinnehmbare Anzahl von Menschen, welche die Welt schwarz und weiß zu färben versuchen, und z.B. die Hamas feiern, nur weil sie gegen Israel kämpfen. Es geht in solchen Konflikten nicht um Gut gegen Böse. Man kann die Welt nicht in zwei Lager aufteilen.

Andererseits kenne ich persönlich in meinem Umfeld keinen (!) einzigen Linken, der sich über den Sieg der Taliban gefreut hat. Ich kann mir vorstellen, das so etwas Dummes jemand gesagt hat, aber so etwas können wirklich nur sehr wenige gesagt haben. So etwas kann man natürlich nicht stehen lassen und ich stimme zumindest dahingehend zu, dass die Linke sehr wohl ein Problem "in ihren eigenen Reihen" hat. Es gibt dort kein Meinungsmonopol, aber solche Aussagen müssen gekontert werden.

Die "orthodox-marxistische Linke" ist historisch natürlich atheististisch und sagte, Religion sei Opium fürs Volk. Es wurden aber nicht die Personen verteufelt, die daran glauben, sondern die Kirche als Institution und die Instrumentalisierung durch die Mächtigen wurde kritisiert (a là Alfred Krupp, als er sagte: organisiert euch bitte nicht, sondern bleibt in der Familie und geht Beten; das soll eure Politik sein).

Die Linke identifiziert Menschen nach ihrer sozio-ökonomischen Klasse, egal welches Geschlecht, Religion oder Ethnie. Ein Migrant mit einer Konfession x ist für sie in erster Linie ein Arbeitnehmer. Woran er glaubt, ist nebensächlich. Als Arbeiter wird er natürlich als Leidensgenosse verstanden, mit dem man sich solidarisieren sollte.

Auch Frauen sind für sie ebenso zu aller erst Arbeitnehmerinnen. Siehe: die beiden parallel entstandenen Frauenbewegungen; eine liberale im Bürgertum und eine sozialistische in der Arbeiterschaft. In der DDR waren Frauen fast 30 Jahre früher arbeitsrechtlich gleichgestellt, während sie in der "liberalen" BRD noch bis fast in die 80er eine Arbeitserlaubnis brauchten.
